I'm down with the Thickness

It really hasn't bothered me as much as I thought. What's you're thoughts around the thickness of this phone?

The phone is thin and light. I'm not obsessed with ultra thin phones though..

I personally much prefer slightly thicker phones, and the Pixel is right in the ideal range (for me). They are harder to bend, can house larger batteries, and you don't get an annoying camera bump (great if you rest your phone on any flat surface without a case). The race to be the thinnest in my opinion is dumb, and all it does is take away from the primary things people want in smart phones (like battery life and durability). Others may feel differently, but give me a massive battery, no camera bump, and a slightly thicker phone and I will be way happier than if I can tell someone my phone is 0.1mm thinner than theirs.

It's better to have a phone that's a tiny bit thicker than to have a 5mm thick phone with a pathetic battery. I don't understand the obsession with thin phones.

Agree, plus thinner phone means it is much more easier to break too.

It's the weight/density not the thickness that matters. Make a really slim phone and people will buy a case just so they have something to hold on to. That's the trick with a phone. You hold it in your hand. So what's the slimmest hand friendly phone? The Nexus 5X is chunky but really light. I think its great. The 6P is heavy . . . like really heavy and torques in my hand when I try to use it. So it's not thinness but but usability that makes a difference.

Thin and light is good for me. I took off the Spigen case on my Pixel and using it naked now.( Have a Square Trade warranty) but I will put a Dbrand skin on it as soon as it gets here. Kind of stupid, but when I have a TPU case on it, it just feels like a utilitarian phone, but when it is naked, it feels better. Maybe its just me.

I don't care about thickness, luxury metal, etc. I only care about the shape, grip and the size of the phone. How well can you use it with 1 hand.

The best shape/size for a Phone I've tried is the one in Moto X 1st gen. 4.7" and a shape that perfectly fits in your hand.

Now I'm using a black 5X (that has some nice grip, like the old Black 5 2013) and I fear that the new Pixel, with metal, will be slippery.

In the contrary, a bad example could be the Z5 Compact. It was a 4.6" device (more or less) but with a rectangle shape and it was very slippery. I can't use the 4.6" Z5 Compact without a case, but I can use quite well, the 5.2" (black) Nexus 5X without a case.

Can you use the Pixel without a case with one hand? Or it's slippery

If the phone are thinner, it would easily slippery, like Oppo R7.
And it feels uncomfortable like sharpness.

I would have been ok with the thickness if the bezels were smaller. Phones with large bezels like the iPhone usually make up for it with a slim body for easier handling. However, the Pixel has both large bezels and a thicker-than-usual profile. I'm guessing it has something to do with Google not having enough time to work on the phone, like how they didn't have time to waterproof it.

A really slim body is easier for handling? Phones had become to slim to be handled naturally and a case became necessary just not for protection. Bezels could be smaller on the Pixel but at the bottom of the list of minor issues I have with it.

But if you're the type that is going to use a case then it helps if the phone isn't really thick already. Pixel isn't that thick though. I remember when In used to use a leather case that effectively made the phone twice as thick, and even that was fine in usage.

I have a Droid Turbo, and a Speck case on it, so I don't give a whit about the thickness of a phone... I also used to have a Palm Treo, which was about as thick as it comes so that has never been a dealbreaker feature for me... I definitely care more about speed, ease of use, reliability, etc...
