I doubt I will ever get bored but you never know. If I do then I'll end up buying the Mate 9 with that gift card money as I love the size of the regular iPhone. The 4.7 feels so good in one hand which it's totally a one handed device. I do want it as my daily driver but I could see myself possibly still getting the mate 9 though. That is if I don't get an iPad which is doubtful as of right now but if I'm able to afford both then all definitely grab the mate 9 for sure.

Mate 9 is a great choice for a multimedia device, hopefully it will drop even more

Yeah I just worry about the lack of continued updates as it becomes more and more dated. Hopefully it will get Oreo and continue to receive security updates for a while to come making it worth buying.

My guess is it will be updated for about another year.

It's too late now. I went by the UPS store today and dropped the honor 8 off for a refund. Everything apple related accessory wise if it has a apple logo on it is so expensive so I needed the extra $200 bucks as I ordered a Red leather apple case today which cost me $48 bucks with tax. That is crazy high but it's my favorite case to use with an iPhone. I won't use it all the time because I've got that full gloss Red skin coming from colorware which I didn't know about them until the other day and I also ordered an expensive specific model Zagg screen protector called the luxe which is a silver titanium color that covers up all the space grey of the iPhone.

Have you check Amazon or eBay for accessories ? They're pretty reasonable online.
