I'm Losing It

If I'm not mistaken, Motorola's plan was to decide which phones they would be updating, not to actually update them in that 6 weeks. Plus we already know the Razr won't be getting it until "early" 2012.

^^^ yes, moto said they would have an upgrade plan within 6 weeks, not an upgrade. I do think that the upgrade time will be quick (the nexus and razr use almost identical hardware), it really depends on how much time and money moto wants to waste on the soon to be dead blur

The cpu/gpu/ram combo are the only similarities.

That said, development time will be longest due to different ril/radio/lte code.

Then there is Blur...

I can't believe Google would do this to us....why make us wait so long? What's the point of announcing it a month before?

Google didn't do this. Verizon did. The only way to sell the RAZR and Rezound is to have them release first. ICS will be the selling point that Verizon will push. You can't sell a GB phone after ICS releases. Customers should at least be able to see 4.0 is better than 2.3. (Since I mentioned number comparison, I'm sure that someone will mention that 1.5 is higher than 1.2 and 8 is higher than 5...SMH.)

I prefer windows xp to windows vista..

I also prefer Final Fantasy 4 to Final Fantasy 13.

with that said..Obviously ICS will be better then GB.

Im choosing my phone based on hardware. .by time it gets ICS itll have all the kinks worked out hopefully.

And if it doesn't, you will wait yet another 3-6 months for a patch to fix those kinks.

Nexus owners will wait a week or two.

I just recently went to the dark side and purchased 2 iphone 4s 2 weeks ago.. the phones lasted less then 48 hours with me before I brought it to the closest verizon store and paid 70 dollars in restocking fees.

Let me tell you IMO why you should def cancel your order, right now.

1. as far as i'm concerned.. the call quality on iphones sucks bad.. comparing them side by side to my galaxy s phone it was like the difference between talking to someone on a 10 yr old pay as you go phone(the iphone) or talking to someone on a crystal clear land line. the iphone4s ear/voice speakers are just fuzzy and I couldnt stand it.. I wanted an upgrade.. not a downgrade.
2. I dropped more calls in that very short time period then I have in a year.. I get great service on verizon and I make a routine call to my fiance on the way home from work, almost every day.. just to discuss the day etc.. and on the iphone day on the same road that ive never had a dropped call on (infact I cant remember ever having a dropped call anywhere other then these dropped calls) our phone call was interrupted 3 times with 3 dropped calls.
3. My signal strength and 3g was actually worse then what I was getting with my galaxy S.
4. Last but not least.. if you like the Android OS at all whatsoever.. be prepared for a horrible OS transition.. using the IOS(5) after coming from android feels like using a handcuffed Android.. so many simple things were not available.. I couldnt do half the things that Android does seamlessly and I thought apples biggest advantage was the software.. it isnt.. infact I have to assume at this point almost all Iphone users have never used android.. or they have and are just rabid fanboys that will ignore a better product simply for their fanboyism.

I didnt order iphones to be a skeptic.. I ordered them with excitement and all intentions of switching to IOS and being very happy with a solid phone and giving up some of the liberties that I had on Android for a more streamlined easier OS. I didnt order them to pay 70 dollars in restocking fees and deal with CS over some bs regarding my upgrade date not resetting after returning them.
My point is I ordered them with good intentions.. they just suck so bad I couldnt keep them. Do yourself a favor.. never even think about an iphone again.

If it hasnt shipped yet.. I.e. - backordered.. it should be a very simple process.. no restock fee. no worries. If your upgrade date doesnt reset simply call them up and explain the situation, they will fix it for you. And if they are backordered.. I have to assume they havent charged you yet because they charge at the time of shipping.

You're experiences are the opposite of mine and many people I know that moved Android>iPhone. I had the Fascinate from launch until Feb 11 when the iPhone 4 launched. The call quality on my iP4 is superior to my Fascinate, and for that matter my Droid and DX. I've not once dropped a phone call from my end. Even with hanging on to 1 bar. Then again I never dropped a call on the Fascinate either. I can say though that the iP4 has stronger signal and signal retention than my Fascinate did. Can you name "half the things that the iP4 can't do that your Fascinate can" ? I love both platforms but you call the people who prefer the iPhone to Android rabid fanboys? Hi pot, meet kettle. You sound just as bad as iFanbois.

did you read my post? if I was a fanboy why would I have bought iphones in the first place?

Im not going to list everything the phone couldnt do.. the fact it needed itunes and 10 calls to customer service to even get ios5 on it is a start. Simple things I do in my phone like the contacts, dialer, msg'ing time stamps, calling from the messenger etc all sucked ass on the iphone.

enjoy your crappy phone.

Also, Motorola finally said that the cpu in the Razr is the 4430 whereas the Galaxy Nexus has the 4460.

Moto will not be the issue that drags out the update time frame. It will be Verizon. After it's completed, Verizon has to test it and add in their own bloat. I would guess you're looking at a bare minimum of 8 to 12 weeks before they are done. Then it will start to trickle out, and people will start having crashes and reboots (most likely due to changes that Verizon has made in adding their bloat). Then Verizon will pull the update and your looking at another 8 to 12 weeks before they attempt to fix it and start over again. Has anyone forgotten that this is the way it always works? Look at all the devices released in the last 10 or 12 months that don't even have Gingerbread.

I keep seeing this.

Verizon doesn't add bloat. They send the applications to Motorola, and Motorola adds it.

This goes for other companies as well.

Verizon also doesn't code the bloat. They outsource it.

That makes sense, but you still end up in the same place...release the update, stop the release do to problems, fix it, re-release it, stop the release, fix it, re-release, etc...

Correct. But they do the update for the phone and bloat at the same time.

Still the long turnaround time for all that testing, where they still miss a ton of things.

I would remind everyone claiming a six month update time for other phones that Motorola has already announced that they plan to release ICS for their current devices 6 weeks after ICS launches.

However, the real question is will Verizon be willing to pay Motorola for the updates if Motorola succeeds in such a quick port.

I don't believe them. They lied to us for months about our 4G LTE upgrades.

I'm losing the battle guys, the other day I got so fed up with my Droid 1, that i went and ordered the 64GB iPhone 4S which is set to ship out on the 18th.

I can still cancel my order, but now I just found out that the Nexus may not launch until AFTER Black Friday.....

Help....I need.....to stick to my guns.....

I've been waiting for MONTHS. I've been sitting on my upgrade since February! Ugh....it's just a phone, but it's so stressful.....

Craigslist or ebay is a great place to pick up a used Charge or Revolution to tide you over until release, then when you upgrade, back to Craigslist or ebay the placeholder will go. :D

I've done this sort of thing for years.

I keep reading comments on different sites by people who can't wait any longer. They say that they will get the Razr or Iphone 4S. I guess this is what VZW wants. When I go to "MY Verizon" it has a link for me to order the Iphone 4S. I suppose they want to sell as many as those, along with the upcoming bloated phones as they can.

Can't wait for the day when I see the Galaxy nexus on there (My Verizon).

Just don't pick up a charge, phone sucks bad.

Lol, post some proof they said 4g LTE would be available prior to Sept. I seem to be one of the few people that knew in back in Feb - March that the upgrade wasn't coming out till Sept. Of course I called and asked instead of listening to forum RUMORS (that somehow become fact).
