I'm somewhat over this addiction. I don't need to have the latest...

...not!! LOL

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

I gave my Huawei P30 Pro to my Mother. I got the iPhone 12 Pro Max and now the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.

I even got the LG Velvet 5G.
Lol, you reminded me of one of my favourite characters in The Sopranos, Silvio, who likes to improvise that line "just when I thought I was out they pull me back in!"

Thanks sorry for the late reply lol

I've always had a soft spot for LG, the Velvet is amazing no complaints. Too bad they're no longer in the game.

No problem!

Same here! LG was my favourite underdog for a very long time! I'm so sad about that too! My husband is loving his Velvet. I love to play with it whenever I can! Glad you are enjoying it!

As enticing as it is for newer devices, price is a large factor for me. I refuse to pay 1000-1200 dollars for a phone. And I don't mind using a phone that's a bit older. That's generally also the main reason why I also wait. Take my Note 10 plus that I just got recently. Because it was released around a year and a half ago, I got it for only 700 bucks. It's still relative right now with updates and such and works great.

I remember when 500 or 600 bucks seemed like a lot for a device. My how times have changed.

I definitely agree with your philosophy, especially from an economical standpoint. I usually buy a "current" flagajpp when it's about eight months old, so I sort of follow that, as well.

I like the Note series, but have always waited for a good deal. I know there is the Note 20 Ultra from last year, but lots of people online have even said upgrading from the Note 10 plus, which I have now, to the Note 20 Ultra really isn't worth it. You aren't really getting any major upgrades at all. Especially for 1300 dollar device... that's a hell no lol Eh maybe the 120 hz high refresh rate... But paying 1300 dollars for it? No. My phone is already super fast and smooth with the 12 GB of ram and even more so with animations turned off.

Now maybe when a few years has gone by or so and the N20U has gone down in price, then I will purchase.

Thanks , that's the way I go forward with Samsung last few years trade in and get half or close to half off .

That's a really good plan. Do you have back-up devices in case your current one stops working? Or do you have two daily drivers? I forget now! Haha.

I don't buy a phone full price normally either. Done it once with the Pixel 4xl but got £270 worth of free Chromebook with it so it was still overall cheaper and my husband has the Chromebook and that 4xl now so he is very happy.

I got my S10+ new for £700 in 2020 just before the S20 came out. This was the £1200 ceramic version so it was an absolute bargain.

I got my 4a 5G in February for £399 instead of £499 when Google had a valentine's sale.

I just got an iPhone 8+ for £240 refurbished in immaculate condition with 92% battery health. It runs the latest iOS so it is perfectly fine for my limited Apple use (basically an Apple watch).

Even my iMac was bought second hand and is a late 2012 model. I got my pixelbook for £550 new by trading in a 2011 MacBook Pro against it while it was on sale for £750 instead of £999.

Oh I built my daughter a £1500 desktop PC last summer for £600 by building it myself from scratch.
I prefer a bargain, slightly older, much older, second hand or on sale. Just prefer getting good quality tech which normally lasts longer than cheap and cheerful tech. Just not for full price.

I do suppose that after a good amount of time goes by and the N20 Ultra price goes down, I will eventually pick it up. That is, if it does, since there isn't going to be any Note devices for awhile.

Reading this w/interest. I have a Pixel 3xl, battery is starting to fade and I'm a bit bored. But what to upgrade to? Everything's expensive and slabby. I'd love a keyboard. C'mon BlackBerry :)
