Ok, so, I am in the process of starting to look forwards to a new phone. My contract with Verizon will be up soon and I plan to jump ship. But this is where my dilemma is, I am not sure if I want to get the GS4 or the HTC One. I know a lot of discussion has been had over this topic but I have seen no one talk about one aspect. My girlfriend has the S3 and it is a really nice phone, one thing I like about it in particular is the large selection in regards to accessories. I really like the flip covers. And I know the S4 will have a lot of accessories and such, but the One just looks like a great phone. I am getting sick of my Galaxy Nexus and the plasticky feel of it and the build quality of the One looks incredible. There is one thing holding me back from just deciding on the One. I don't know of any accessories for it. I know the S4 will have tons and that makes me jealous with the lack of them for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. So anyone who already has the One available or any information about them, I would really appreciate to hear from you guys about anything you guys might know about. I am sure both of them will be great phones, but I won't be able to try both.

Thanks in Advance!!

My recommendation would be for the HTC One. But, above all, I suggest you go into a store and play with both for a while before making the decision ? especially if you're really split between them. I'm not a huge fan of what I've seen of the new Sense 5 so far, but time will tell. I can say that I'd take the physical build and look of the One over the S4 any day.

And that's my train of thought as well, however I feel like the one won't have much in the way of accessories. At least I couldn't find any evidence to the contrary.

It seems like HTC and Samsung positioned their flagship products (the One and S4, respectively) for a slightly different customer. The HTC One's focus seems to be on the experience of creating and sharing media, as well as physical design. The GS4's focus seems to be on bringing the S4 into your life in as many ways as possible, going so far as using the "life companion" tagline on the phone, and they seemed to focus on software design. It sort of boils down to your preference, whether either company's vision for the phone matters to you, or "moves" you.

Personally I'm opting for the One, and I'd be happy to go into more detail as to why if you'd like, but I thought an objective overview might help to start the discussion.

I would honestly love to hear your thoughts on it. I have read an unnecessary amount of reviews today and it was all started by phils review, before that I wasn't really considering the HTC one.

Here is a whole forum over at XDA dedicated to accessories. Not sure what you are looking for, but you should be able to find some things here.
One Accessories - xda-developers

I would love to hear your opinion also, Maerlim. I have two main reasons for waiting for the HtC One. The first is call quality and front speakers. The second is ...The GS4 and 3 are just so ugly! If I am going to be holding a phone in my hands frequently, I want to be able to admire it.

Well, to be honest, I think you are focusing on the wrong thing.

You said that the ONE thing holding you back from the HTC was the accessory selection. Does that mean that, if for some reason there were no accessories for either phone at all (theoretically speaking), then you would choose the htc? If that is the case, then there should be your final decision. I don't think you should make a decision on a hardware that costs $600 on a $25 case. You know what I mean?

The thing I would like to ask you is: who are you jumping ship to? TMobile, ATT or Sprint?

I am moving to TMobile I think. They cover my area VERY well and have an amazing HSPA network that rivals the speeds of LTE. Seriously, I would be ok never getting LTE on their network with such high HSPA speeds that I have tested over the last 3 weeks.

Well you've posted this in the HTC section so it shouldn't be surprising as to what answer you're going to get, but it honestly sounds like you've already made your decision and are worried about the lack of cool accessories for the One. The S4 will have a lot more accessories and be a lot more conveniently available in most retailers, no worries though there's going to be One accessories too, you'll just have to look harder for them than you would for the S4.

If you're looking for a flip cover for the One HTC makes one, but from reading around the net of the reviews of people who already have both the phone and case, HTC's case is of poor quality and some apparently doesn't fit the phone like it's supposed to. KLD makes the most aesthetic flip covers out there and they're made out of leather. They've made one for the One as well:

Hope this helps.

@Suda
Actually I was on my way to post about the HTC case, noticed it looked a little cheap, but thanks for the link to the other one.

I am not necessarily making my decision based solely on accessories, but I just wanted to make sure there would be some. At this point, it would seem that I am more than likely leaning towards the One, unless the S4 comes with a unicorn or something. I will be going to T-Mobile, more than likely their pre-paid plans but I might do the post paid just to get the payments on the phone. Then, if it is a possibility, switch to a pre-paid plan.

As far as accessories are concerned, keep in mind that this is HTC's "big phone" for the year. I'd be very surprised if there were a lack of OEM accessories, not to mention third-party ones that are compatible.

Yea that makes sense. I didn't even think about that.

The GNex and the S3 are very slippery due to the plastic and that means you pretty much have to use a case on them. I don't like that myself, either. I am going to seriously consider a metal phone for my next phone for that reason.

Just moved from GNex to the One. The first time I've had a non-Nexus Android (something I swore I'd never do)

Could not be more impressed! Beautiful, functional and blisteringly fast. Never going back to those plastic menaces ;)

Amazon has accessories for every phone possible.... Even old ones lol.. I'm sure there's plenty for htc one.

I thinking about making the same move from the G nexus to the One. The only thing I am worried about is if I will be able to handle going back an OS version and probably never seeing KLP. With that in mind I am still considering the S4 and the Nexus 4. for some reason i keep coming back to the One.

Not sure about klp, but a couple sources have said HTC is planning 4.2.2 in next couple months

Yea I read those posts. I'm pretty pleased so far with those. At this point I'm more than likely getting this phone. It's build quality just looks too good to pass up. I loved the last HTC phones that I had too.
