I'm split and need some opinions!

Yea I read those posts. I'm pretty pleased so far with those. At this point I'm more than likely getting this phone. It's build quality just looks too good to pass up. I loved the last HTC phones that I had too.

Cool. Good luck with your new phone!

Droid Hungry, I coulda written your post. I'm an accessory hound and was disappointed that the S3 got all the toys and my Evo LTE got squat. I got the LTE thinking it would run neck and neck with the amount of accessories for the S3 would have and I was disappointed. Still like the LTE though. I went through the same thing with my Palm Pre (but we did have the ultra-cool Touchstone which I really miss after three years). That makes me want my next phone to have wireless charging, which from something I read I think here on AC won't happen due to the aluminum case on the ONE. I'm guessing that it will be available with the S4 but I don't remember seeing that.

The s4 will support it with a special back piece. The one can't unfortunately. But the charging pad for the s4 is supposed to cost around I think I read $150 ish? I could very well be wrong though

It is very early days but plenty of accessories are already starting to show up for the One, being a completely new design it might take a while but most needs should be covered. Unless there is something ultra-specific that you need to work with your phone then it is unlikely you will be dissapointed. Chargers, headphones and bluetooth stuff are all standard fit so chop and change at will, cases and covers are appearing daily, both at the budget level and from the hign end manufacturers like Noreve. HTC have a reasonably priced car kit and the last one I had for my original Desire was a great piece of kit.

The only thing I have not seen yet is a desktop stand/charger but I am sure it is only a matter of time. It all depends on your needs and what you want, yes the S4 might generate 10 times as many accessories but how many of them are actually worth having, like someone said already why put a 600 phone in a 2.99 case? I would rather buy a single Noreve case than 20 dodgy HK ebay ones any day.

What it comes down to at the end of the day is the phone itself, you can swap cases and chargers at will but you will be stuck with the phone for 2 years, and if you are already disappointed with the S3 build then you seem to have answered your own question.

Exactly. I think I just needed a little bit more to make me realize it.

To be fair, absolute build quality of the One remains to be seen as any problems will take a while to surface, but I can't imagine there being any real issues. In terms of materials used, if you are fed up of your current plastic fantastic then you will love the One, the aluminium and glass gives a reassuringly quality feel and it really is a crime to put this phone in a case.

For me, that quality of material and ergonomics, just the way it feels in the hand, is a much higher priority than a 13mp camera or an 8 core cpu. Think about how you use your phone on a daily basis, you might only use many of the features occasionally but every time you touch the phone, even to check the time, you are interacting with it's ergonomics. The Galaxy S2 had the ergonomics (if not the materials) and even with it's relatively poorer specs it was fast enough to do everything it needed to do, the S3 sacrificed that usability for more (unnecessary) power and was a worse phone for it. I am not at all hopeful for the S4.
