I'm thinking of getting a Galaxy Watch - yes or no?

I'm getting the $130 certificate from Samsung for my purchase of the S10+ since they ran out of Buds. My wife got a pair of Buds with her S10 and isn't going to use them because she has multiple headsets, so I'm using them. I was thinking of getting a Galaxy Watch and put the $130 toward the purchase.

Since I have a S10+ is this the best smartwatch to get?

Would I be better off with one running Android Wear?

What can / can't I do with a Galaxy Watch?

TIA for your input.

I have the 42mm and 46mm Galaxy watches and I love them. Battery life and performance have been great since I got them last year.

I moved this to the Galaxy Watch forum for more specific traffic.

Reviews had the Galaxy Watch to be the overall winner, despite--or because--it not being WearOS.

My 46mm one will go 3,4 days between charges. That's astounding.

I'm fascinated by the sleep and step recording. I love having notifications happen on my wrist.

If you have a Samsung phone, it's a tad better because you can have the specific mail and text apps on your watch, plus you can do Samsung Pay. But even without a Samsung phone--even with an iPhone--it's a nice piece.

Because I have 2xS10+. Whenever I get Samsung phones I always get 2. One black ceramic and one white.

Can you read full gmail email contents in notification on watch? My Gear 2 used to get full gmail now just tells me to read it on phone.

I'm reading the full email messages, both my corporate gmail and my personal non-gmail.

It's interesting--I have both emails set up in the Samsung Email app, and I switch between them with the hamburger menu. But on the watch, it simply shows me everything all in one list, in the order the emails were received. It denotes which account the email is from by putting a little colored dot beside each one. In my case, blue is my home non-gmail and pink for work gmail.

If you press three dots on the watch when in inbox list, you can choose to just see one account instead of the combined view, if you wish. It's the symbol with an @ symbol, after you've pressed the three dots.

No I'm talking about the actual Gmail app. Can you read full emails from it on watch if Samsung Email app not set up at all?

You can see the notifications, and I believe you can touch the notification and see the whole thing, but once gone from the watch it's gone from the watch.

My only concern is if entire gmail from gmail app no other email app can be read. Can someone confirm?

Last year I upgraded from a Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch to the Samsung Gear Sport running the Tizen OS and I love the watch. I'm my opinion, the Tizen OS works much better than Android Wear for my needs. It may have less apps available, but it just works with very little issues. Battery life is also fantastic compared to my Moto watch and I love the rotating bezel.

If you have to ask I say no. I do not feel these questions do anything. I am sure you are being genuine but if you can't come to a conclusion by research and testing in a store I say no. You will just be angry if you go by forum posts and then don't like it.

Thank you for your comments. I would never base my decision on just what I read here. But, there are a lot of very smart people here who's opinion I respect.

Its purely subjective though. I may say it's horrible. You may say it's great. We're both right. I do really like mine though. Just as much as, if not more than, my Apple watches.

I love the watch. I didn't mean this to sound so nasty. It wasn't meant to. It's just you see this question or questions like it in forums about products all the time. The thing is most people come to forums with issues. Then there are a few that just come to find out about updates or to help people with issues. The problem lies with the fact there are hundreds out there that never come to forums. You get a very biased opinion in forums. While I agree you should at least browse through the forums to see current issues forums should represent a small part of your decision. Let's face it. If you go to a forum about a particular brand you will get mostly yes answers. I would take a good look at Fitbit Ionic also.. I had one but had some compatability issues with my phone. I wanted an LG to match my phone but it is only sold at a, competing carrier and didn't have Bluetooth only which I wanted. While I have answered calls on my watch it is very unimportant to me. I use a guitar product called a Line 6 Helix. Everyday someone asks of they should buy one. Of course everyone says yes. Lol. Please, I am not trying to be ignorant. Just read specs, look at YouTube videos, then as a last stop look at forums to find what issues people are having. And hands on at a store is always recommended.

All I know is I get full gmail content on my Wear OS watch and I do not on my gear and nobody hear has confirmed that from the gmail app itself, not Samsung email configured to receive gmail, I can read full gmail content. Maybe someone can tell me whAt setting would allow my Gear 2 to do it?
