Image quality loss when switching orientation

This is really bugging me, when looking through pics in the standard gallery app everything is fine until I rotate the phone, orientation switches and the image looks distorted/not of the original quality. Is there a solution to this? Please and thank you! Evo with froyo all stock

Just double tap zoom in wait for it to focus then double tap again to zoom out and the pictures will sharpen up. I'm not sure why it does that but that process works for me.

Later,
Dave

Thanks Dave, but this doesn't work for me, image is sharp when zoomed in, but once I zoom out it goes back to the distorted state...

I think it has something to do with thumbnail sizes. In portrait mode, the thumbnails look sharp. However, in landscape, they are larger in size but im sure its still the same thumbnail file with same resolution. So it looks slightly blurry as its lower res and blown up. However once you zoom in, even slightly, on the image you start to see the "real" image not the thumbnail. And it will be crystal clear.

Ok yes, quality improves if I zoom in but goes back to crap when I zoom out to original size. I guess there's no real solution to this

Rooted? Stock? What ROM? When you switch orientation the image will get fuzzy for a minute, but should sharpen up after a second or two once the phone adjusts the image size for the screen.

All stock with 2.2. Image never sharpens up by itself, only if I zoom in, but even that doesn't "update" the poor quality original size image.

Does anyone else have this problem? I can't be the only one. It is most noticeable when opening an image in portrait mode, than switching to landscape.
