i had sprint back before smart phones...it was pretty horrible...i hear an witness nothing but horrible experiences here in nc. in major cities, not even out in the farm land lol...but hey watever makes you guys happy. hopefully sprint gets some good phones. cause i no my friends with htc hero on sprint wont like me much after tomorow

My IT Director tried this HDMI line on me this morning. But who needs HDMI when the Bolt has DLNA? He didn't even know what DLNA was. Looks like I need a new IT Director.

Sprint is dying. They're just now starting to switch over to LTE. Does anyone seriously believe they're going to expand their WiMax?

Most everything has HDMI inputs. That is why HDMI is awesome. In 5 years DLNA will be common. So to answer your question, at least one personal on this planet needs HDMI.

some see it as possibly and all in one option, say possibly no internet access in a rural home you could possibly stream netflix to your phone and watch on your tv. Not saying that DLNA is perfect and everyone will use it to its highest potential but for me id be happy if just my directv box xbox, wii and bluray had it so i could do away with the growing number of cords in my entertainment center

to put it into layman terms, the TV needs to have network access to even HAVE DLNA

I think the Multimedia Dock will take care of this for those without DLNA though

Why wouldn't they like you anymore? Is it because you're going to act like you're special because you bought a new phone? Why would someone still with a Hero be bothered? The Evo has been out for a year now, so they could have upgraded if they wanted to. The Gold/Silver Premier doesn't start until April.

Sound like you've got some issues if you think a phone changes the person who owns it. If that's the case, you're going to be hating next week when Sprint announces a T-Bolt killa'.

Really? I have an Evo. I also have a MyTouch4G and a DInc. Had a Hero an Eris, an iPhone, and several others too. They're just phones. At least they're just phones to me.

Well, it comes down to what you need in a phone. Though its nice to be able to know "i have the best!", as long as your device does everything you want, dont get caught up in the "Who is better" battle. (too much)

That being said, im throwing in the towel on Evo v thunderbolt.

Oh, and for those saying its similar to the evo, its more similar to the Desire HD and variants such as the inspire 4G.

DLNA sucks and is not in any stretch of the imagination as good as HDMI on a phone, period. it is cool and nice to have to play with but there is so much incompatibility between manufacturers, content protection, resolutions, codecs, etc. i want to walk into my friends and families house and plug it to the side convenience jack of any flat panel tv in their house and show photos, videos of the fam and g-daughter. i dont want to have to join their wifi network, search for the device, try to connect, blah blah blah. is it a deal breaker, no, does it suck to not have hdmi yes

Actually the Tbolt DOES have HDMI, it uses the new MHL spec that uses microUSB to connect to HDMI connections.

ThunderBolt blows the EVO 4G out of the water, especially with a 2000 quadrant score and NETFLIX/HULU certification

Compatibility problems are not limited to DLNA. The EVO 4G's HDMI had to be hacked to be able to share photos and other stuff. I saw just this morning on PN that this mirror hack had only succeeded very recently:

Aren't there also micro-USB to HDMI cables? 'Though I would expect that some software/hacking may be needed to get full functionality out of them with a particular phone.

I like phones and computers, yes. Am I a rabid loyalist to a particular device? No I'm not. Something newer is right around the corner. Always. It just takes some carriers longer than others to release a device. I was interested in the Thunderbolt, but if all the users are going to be like you, well, I'll wait for another phone. I wouldn't want to be lumped into the same category as you.
