Imap email folders not syncing

Samsung is totally useless . They should make washing machine and fridge. Wash the phone and freeze it for ever. I have Ipad mini and emails work flawlessly and sync fantastic.

Same is the case with me . No other choice but to dump the S5. Writing emails to the president of the North American Operations is of no use. Problems persists and it is better to switch to something else . I think any other phone will be far better than Samsung

This is the problem for everyone. My emails dont sync and does not retrieve any mails . All experts including at Samsung, T-mobile store Best Buy and my several hours to fix failed . everyone has given up . No one is able to solve the problem. I have changed the phone and still the problems persists. Waste of time effort and Money. Any one buying Samsung S5 think dozen times before buying

Hello everyone. I think this issue is not a Samsung issue but an Android Kitkat issue. I'm on a Note 2 and previously was on JellyBean. All of my email synced without flaw. My Verizon Note 2 just received Kitkat in the past 2 weeks and since then the sync no longer works.

Works fine for some email but for my corporate email which is IMAP and a few others it's a no go.

I think resolution needs to be sought with Google!! Thought I'd address this since the problem is across many phones.

Is everyone on Kitkat? That may be the key indication its software related.

When I tried setting up my email with the default email app, I couldn't even sign in, it kept telling me "authentication error". I used the manual setup and
choose Microsoft exchange active sync and no more issues thus far.

KitKat introduced a few wrinkles that are effecting all the manufacturers.

However, when I installed Blue Mail, all of my problems went away...

so, the developers of Blue Mail got on the stick and figured out KitKat in a hurry.

With IMAP, set the sync Period to be at most 1 week and it will work. (Marking only an email as read on a desktop client won't immediately update the read status on your phone if sync is set to push, but clicking manually the refresh button from the phone or receiving a new email will update the statuses).

I have 2 Yahoo business email accounts, and 2 Yahoo email
personal accounts. I upgraded to the S5 just 2 days ago because my S3
stopped syncing any of my emails accounts after the phone received the system
update to 4.3. No one at Best Buy (in person), Samsung (in person) or
Yahoo (email tech support) was able to fix the syncing problem with the
S3. Samsung rep spent hours over 3 visits - and was not able to fix the problem with the S3. So with the new S5, for the first few hours, syncing was working just fine. The next morning I saw that most of the emails that I read or
replied to from my computer the night before were still showing as unread on
the S5. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING! Now it seems to randomly sync email
status for some emails but not others. I went thru every suggestion posted in this thread - several
times. I did all of this on my S3 as well. I've deleted and added
back emails accounts - they donwload just fine from the mail server with the
correct status, but it's still hit or miss with syncying read or replied to
statys. My phone becomes a very limited took for my business needs if I
can't tell if I've read or replied to emails. Did anyone find a solution different from what has been posted so far?

Does anyone have a fix when all these other suggestions have been tried and failed? I'm getting convinced this is a KitKat problem and no one who sells or maintains these phone seem to know that. Samsung seems to be silent on this issue. It's a basic and critical function and it just doesn't work. I am using AquaMail successfully - so this is definitely a Samsung/KitKat problem that they need to address. But I'd sure like to get the native email app to work as it did in 4.2

I have tried everything that has been mentioned to no avail. Going to contact At&T for a new phone. My S3 did not have this problem. I need my emails to sync.

I have a Samsung tab 4. My phone is an iPhone and I have this problem when reading emails from phone. Exchange fine, only affects my yahoo address. I'm not a techno pro but I'd love a solution to this problem. So annoying.

Brilliant!
Thanks very much for that, it's taken me months to find a solution.
All now working absolutely fine on my Note 3

This is a Kit Kat problem and I found another site that explains as such but I'm a new user so it won't let me post links here.

I put spaces into the above link so you should be able to read that if you remove them. Not sure if this helps but at least Google knows about this.

I got a new Galaxy S5, have yahoo mail. I get none of my folders I had on my old phone, I get them on my computer. I see no place to make new folders. I don't understand why they didn't carry over to new phone. I have not downloaded new yahoo mail. Do, I need to do that.
Thanks;

I am using Blue mail and it shows my yahoo folders.

It's a pity the Google bosses don't have the same sense of shame as a Japanese exec would. The vast extent of this outcry would have brought about deep apologies from the Toyota or Nissan CEOs, so why not Google, or are they too big to be bothered that thousands of people are suffering from a problem that should never have happened in the first place. What if a missed email because of this bug led someone into a dangerous or deadly situation?

Try this.. Settings>Email>manage accounts>select account>(scroll/pull down)More settings>Folder sync settings>click each folder and change sync settings..>Sync Schedule from manual to push or use account default and also >Peak schedule
all folders are set to Manual.. change it to PUSH or use account default
Yeah cumbersome,You have to click each folder to change sync settings. how I wish you can select all or select a few then change the sync settings.
