is there a way to do this with the s20? on pixel i used an app called gmd full screen immersive, but it doesn't seem to work on samsung (and isnt supported anymore). basically, in keeping with the theme of gesture navigation and removing the bottom buttons, i'd like to also entirely hide the top status/notification bar so that the home screen is just one unbroken full screen image. possible?

If you go to Settings you can find the Full Screen option in the Display Section. There, just select the app(s) you want and toggle either Auto mode (the app 'decides') or Full screen all the time.

You can also permanently hide the navigation bar by using gestures with no hints.

yes apps i get (although i'm not entirely sure it works since i still see the status bar even after enabling "full"). i'm talking about hiding the top status bar permanently on the home screen and within apps. just a nice clean immersive experience navigated purely by gesture. there are apps that do it (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=immersive.duna.com.immersivemode) but i was wondering if there's a native option somewhere that i miss

just an fyi for those who are trying to run a clean interface with no navigation bar and no status bar, i did end up buying the app above but it's not ideal. in the free version, the back button doesnt work unless you buy the paid version (clever marketing there) but it's really cumbersome to use the keyboard.

i decided to give good lock + quickstar a try and can report that it's perfect. you're able to toggle on or off every item in the status bar. i have all off and use widgets for wifi and cell signal info. done. great clean fully immersive screen with a perfectly working keyboard. there's a top section in the options that speaks of "home screen", "lock screen" and "expanded panel" network information, but as far as i can tell these do absolutely nothing

But that technically still has the status bar atop...you just hid everything in it :P Clever workaround, though.

As for the sections in Good Lock that you say 'don't do anything', they do...but it depends on what you're showing. They're mostly for network info, and you can choose to display that (for instance, to see which carrier you're connected to or which WiFi you're pulling data from) and where (in all three places, or only in certain places like when you fully expand the notification bar or on the lock screen).
