Android Central Question

I'm currently using a Huawei Mate 9 with AT&T. I am unable to send group messages to more than 10 people for some reason. I have searched online and read that this is an ATT limitation but my wife and kids can send to 10+ with their iPhones. I'm not sure if this is an issue with my phone or with the stock Google messenger app. I guess my question is can I download another app that will allow me to do this and import my old messages and where the senders won't have to install the same app?

On the iPhone, your wife may be using iMessage, which does instant messages -- not SMS -- by default.

Yes, the 10 recipient limit is an ATT thing, when ATT chooses to enforce it. I am under the impression -- rightly or wrongly -- that much of the enforcement might be in the ATT messaging app. If that is the case, switching to a non-ATT app might help get around the ATT limit. I use Textra for SMS messages, but I don't remember the last time I tried texting more than 5 people, say nothing of 10.

edit: Since you are using Google's app, the limit enforcement might be now mostly on the ATT servers, which is probably not helpful to you now....

And if you run a different texting app, you'll be asked to allow it to become the default texting app, since only 1 can be the default at a time. That one will pick up the same text database that you're using now - you don't have to import anything into anything.
