Impression vs. Review

This is purely an "impression" I have after watching Chris Pirillo vomit all over the HTC EVO in his Twitter feed.

He's a smug, vicious, petty ###hole.

Keep in mind that this is only an "impression" and I'll need an extended length of time to give him a thorough "review." I will add that I'm leaning rather strongly toward just placing many extra adjectives in front of ###hole and letting the whole thing stand as is.

p.s. Don't anyone make me explain the difference between impression and review or I might lose my mind and come unhinged.

I despise fanboys regardless of what product they might be biased toward!

I am amazed at how touchy Android users are. I thought my fellow iPhone users were sensitive, but they have nothing on Android folks.

I have been a fan of Chris for almost as long as he has been doing it. I would love to have a beer with the guy. However….

While I think overall he is a good guy I was very disappointed in the way he did his review. It is not that he has his own opinion; it was the WAY he did it. If you watch the video he actually commented on that crappy SLOW Sprint video that pops up on a power up saying that is reprehensive of 4G? I agree that looks lame!! That is not the Evo though.

Then commenting on the slide to unlock bar, does it really HAVE to say slide down to unlock??

Then he complains about the type under the icons not scrolling and he had to launch the app to know what it was, I agree there in a way but that was so minor.

If you compare an out of the box Evo to an iPhone, iPhone probably does win as far as ease of use.

The entire iPhone experience is basically press big button, press icon, use app, press big button, rinse and repeat!

However that is also what makes it boring for us power users. I think Android users are power users and the phones are geared toward this! He never mentions that. He never allows his geek side to take over and realize how cool it is and can be. Then he posts the video about the battery. Should it do that out of the box, NO!!! But it is easily fixed with a few minor tweaks!! He does not mention that and I bet he never cared to see.

Look if the iPhone was so great out of the box then why do so many people go through the trouble to jailbreak it? I bet his is jailbroke, why, because that is when it is much more fun to use! Android users can do that stuff and so much more right out of the box even before a rooting!

He treated the Evo like one of his ex wives, with bitterness and venom. I:Di

He did not allow his geek side to really get to understand it. I think he lost his geek side a bit over the years. Once you get into the Apple cult it makes it hard to think clearly. i:Di

The entire review was; get this Evo, use for an hour, not understanding anything about it mind you, and write a review making it as negative as I can! I bet I could make a video doing the exact same thing for the new iPhone, pointing out obvious lame things and making it look bad.

Hs also an Apple fanboy and I don’t mean that derogatorily. i:Di

Be real, everyone is a bit touchy when it comes to their team, devices etc... It is human nature.

Believe me though, Apple users are WAY touchier than any group I have ever dealt with! EVER! I am speaking personally and professionally. A lot of Apple users are really spastic over anything Apple. If you mention PC anything they go off about it, how bad it is etc… How their Macs are so much better than anything blab la bla… There is no room for anything other than an Apple product in their universe and if you use something else you are an idiot to them, period. Very black and white!

Sorry man, I am new to Android but I already see that Android people are passionate but not fanatic like Apple users! Not even close!

Don't get me wrong, many Apple users are fanatical to a scary extent, but I see just as much in the Android forum community. Anytime someone remarks that some feature of the iPhone is better than or equal some Android phone, many people freak out. It's the same thing I see from iPhone users in about the same percentage of users.

I understand that people are defensive about their choices, but it's just phones.

This is nothing unusual. I see/hear the same types of things in computers, automobiles, photography, sports, and many other areas. Hell, when I was shopping for baby strollers, I saw it in baby gear forums. Some of those moms are crazy!

Frankly, I love the fact that there is good competition out there. It will keep everyone on their toes and making better products. Who knows, I may switch to Android - I love the iPhone, but I'm not married to it.

I'm not afraid to say the iPhone is a great device, but personally I hate the way Apple runs things so I vote for Android and will never buy an Apple product even though they have great products.

I think Android fans get extra touchy because it seems like everyone wants to say how much better the iphone is than android. I know "android" podcasters who use iphones! It's insane.
