I generally like the ICS native browser, it seems faster than the 3rd party browsers I have tried like Dolphin, FireFox, and Opera. However I think a few things could improve this. First the bookmarks are pain to access. I'd like to be able to access them when I'm on a webpage as opposed to going to that tabbed area. Secondly I wish we could tell this browser to (where applicable) ALWAYS download the desktop site for all websites. I hate those mobile versions. How else can this be improved?

Finally, someone else noticing the web browser.
You can't set the stock browser to always use desktop mode.

Sorry to hijack, but test something for me.
Set a background image on your google homepage. If you try it from your phone you'll notice you can't select a pic. If you set it from your PC then go to google from your phone, you'll notice the browser can't display the page properly.

EDIT: Shoot, I win the award for not reading the whole question. Sorry, you said always. Duh.

On the list of settings for the browser (on the actual menu, not within the settings) is the option to "request desktop site." There you go. :)

Yeah we both know that. The request is to have a way so that is that this feature is automatically checked every time, so we don't need to check it each time I visit a website with a mobile version.

someone posted a way to make the desktop permanent in another thread and i i cant remember how or where it was....or even if it worked. Im pretty sure that youbcan though.

The stock browser is fast but I wont be using it until they have a always use desktop mode. Dolphin performs as fast if not faster than the stock.

Nope...i was wrong. It worked for a little bit then reverted........edit....i think it might be permanent afterall.

Make bookmarks more accessible. There also needs to be more continuity from the menu bar placement. It's all over the place.

Using quick controls with fullscreen unchecked gives very quick access to bookmarks.

Quick controls is in labs and makes every other browser clonky IMO.

The half circle shows when you place a finger on edge. Second from bottom is bookmarks.

THANKS - I did and it worked!!!!

Short way: check off the "Request desktop site" option.

Long way: in the address bar, type in "about:debug" and hit Go. Then hit the menu button > Settings > Debug > UAString and select whichever user agent you want. These are your options.

This is a major reason why this phone is so great - you can make it do exactly what you want with a little bit of work! :)

That's weird...my half circle is missing the bookmarks and the + sign. I wonder why?
