In call Volume at lowest setting too LOUD

I have a Pixel 6 and the in call Volume at lowest setting way too loud. I have tried to adjust from multiple perspectives with no success. Is anyone else having this problem?

Welcome to Android Central! That doesn't seem to be the case on my 6 Pro. You're certain it's not on speakerphone, right? Is this over the phone's earpiece, or on a headset?

I've had this problem ever since I bought my Pixel 6a. Tried the disable hearing aids suggestion, didn't work. Finally, I went into Bluetooth settings and removed the paired devices - IT WORKED. Call volume control is now restored on the base phone. Go figure.....not sure what I will do upon re-pairing the speaker I had been using.
