i searched the forum and some people suggested selecting 'over 60 years old' as well as Dolby Atmos' to voice. i have done both, still the in-call volume has not inproved.

does anyone experience the same issue and is there any App out there that would boost the in-call volume?

I have found that, since the S21 series, holding the phone to my ear was no longer effective. I've maxed out all the volume possibilities but am reduced to either using the phone on speaker or with earbuds. full disclosure: I wear hearing aids and was doing so prior to the S21. it might take me a bit, but I'm always able to determine whether the hearing problem is with my physical limitations, or in this case, the device.

Do you get the same result with headphones/earbuds?

I should assume but won't that you have, while on a call, opened your full volume panel, showing all of the available volume controls, and increased the volume on most or all of your options for volume control? Seems obvious but I have to ask.

What is the result if you use speakerphone? Is there any distortion or volume level issues when you do not have the phone to your ear?

Have you asked someone else what they think? I must imagine with the way you are describing this that the volume is very low but it may be helpful if there were a second opinion for comparison. I would think the best way to test this would be to call someone with you and trade phones. This way you can compare a device with no complaints to your device and then also get the opinion of the other person about how they think y your device is performing.

Are you using the stock Phone app? These apps are sometimes called "dialers", "touch pads", or simply "Phone" apps in the Play Store and often people will change them to get special options, features or themes.

Are you using a different launcher than One UI? Again, this is one of those things where users prefer something other than One UI. Many launchers have options out the wazoo and one of these options could be, I don't want to say in conflict but maybe not playing nice, let's say, and affecting call volume.

Since you haven't mentioned any other sound issues we could but won't assume that everything else sounds fine, but does it?

Has it always been like this or was there a change? If there was a change can you estimate how long ago this change happened? Any significant events that you can think of around this time? Phone update, a new app, anything call or sound related?

I'm not able to think of anything else, let us know what you find and we'll try to offer more advice.

This is very interesting. I have the opposite situation. Every phone call, the in call volume is so loud it hurts my ear. I have to lower it significantly, every time. It never saves what I used during the last call. I've never had a phone with such a loud in call volume. Trust me it's nice bc the problem you're having is much worse. Can't hearing a call when that's what it was originally designed for....🙄

One more suggestion for those who are hard of hearing...turn on speaker-phone and then hold it up to your ear. If your ear drums are already damaged (old age-rock music) then this is guaranteed to shred the last few bits of skin off of your ear drums for good! YMMV

Interestingly, @jtfwTX finds the call volume is too loud. it would be helpful to get other opinions on the volume issue.

1. i have tried both the stock phone app and a second phone app and they are the same with low volume even though it's set at 100%
2. the call volume for Whatsapp and Telegram seems to be fine. just the phone app
3. i am using the stock launcher.

this in-call volume has always been low for my S24U as far as i can remember.

fwiw, I have BT hearing aids. unless I'm in a quiet room, I need to have the phone on speaker to hear the caller 🤷🏻‍♂️. and appropriately, there are other members on this board who use a different brand of aids than I do and have magnificent volume with their hearing aids. it's not plug and play, yet.
