If you have a Chromebook that converts to a tablet and you notice it isn't auto-rotating properly, remove any USB peripherals (most notably a mouse). I had this problem with my new HP X360 14 that I typically use with a USB wireless mouse, and once I unplugged the USB dongle, it auto-rotated normally.
