In Jelly Bean, how do I create "Favorites" or "Recent" (phone) shortcut?

I've looked all over the web for this. On my S3 - running JellyBean, I'd like a home screen shortcut directly to the phone's "Favorites" or "Recent" list. There doesn't seem to be any way to do this. Old posts refer to a 'create shortcuts item on the home page menu, but all I have is "add shortcuts and widgets", and there are preciously few of these supplied that are phone related.

Thanks!

So let me ask, what you want is the ability to choose a favorite contact from your home screen just to call or sms quickly?

Most of my outgoings are to the list contained in "Recent" or "favorites", but list is too long to create a shortcut for each one. I just want to get to that list more quickly than by first having to select "phone".

Ah i know what you mean now.

Well i have a pre-installed widget on my homescreen called People which contains all of my favorites in my phonebook, i just tap the one i want to contact and whoop. It asks me if i want to send an SMS or call the person (I can even select a defualt action when i tap on them) without having to enter the phonebook first. I think you can add as many as you like. I don't know if that is what you are looking for but at least it is something applies to what you are looking for.

However there's not an option to see a list of recent on the homescreen as far as i know. Perhaps there would be an app Play Store which could do the job.

So here's my confession - I actually have a Samsung Statosphere II, which is really similar to the S3 - and is running JellyBean (but it's so unpopular a phone there's no forum for it). The pre-installed shortcuts that came were "Phone" and "Contacts". So to get to "Recent" or "Favorites" I need to select "Phone" first. I suppose I could devote a home screen to the top 10 and create individual shortcuts, but it's a lot easier just to get directly to the "Recent" or "Favorites" screen. Oddly enough, there doesn't seem to be anything in the Play store to remedy this. I searched the web and apparently older versions of the O/S (for older Samsung phones) had a "create shortcut" option on the home screen menu, but I don't.

So - if anyone knows how to get a shortcut to Favorites or Recent - I'm all ears 8-}
