In my opinion, the Galaxy S5 is the most well rounded smartphone on the market!

Among the Android community I find Samsung to be a love or hate company. The Galaxy S5 has sold millions of phones worldwide and (especially) tech writers/reviewers they are frowned upon which I don't understand. I get it to some extent, Touchwiz looks a bit cartoonish and is a resource hog but overall I can't think of another phone that offers feature for feature what the S5 has.Sure it's not the absolute fastest device around but I can't come up with another device that offers all of these options in one phone. Why do tech writers dislike it so much? Is it solely Touchwiz? I don't get it. I gave the iPhone 6 2 weeks and switched back.

-Amazing Camera w/ 4K recording
-USB 3.0 charging (quicker charging)
-Brilliant 5.1" 1080p display
-IP67 water/dust resistant
-Removable battery / expanded memory
-Ability to multitask with split-screen even if the options for this are not plentiful.
-Ability to download using wi-fi/LTE (even if not available in the US)

I think they bash the S5 because it's plastic.. which I think it looks great

SAMSUNG GALAXY S5

I disagree, the camera is terrible in anything other than perfect conditions.

The nexus 5 with OIS walks all over this camera for indoor photos, one handed picture taking and even outdoors when the light is not great.

On top of that, the pictures and video can come out upside down or sideways when transferred to PC over MTP, depending on which way you were holding the phone when taking them. That's a joke!

I'm returning the S5 for a new nexus 5, it was a huge mistake "upgrading" to the S5 in the first place!!

So I vote for the nexus 5 for the most rounded phone available today!

The photo being rotated is not an S5 thing, my Z2 did it as well.
Can't comment on the camera yet, only got my S5 day before yesterday, but so far the pictures are brilliant. Especially when looking at them on the beautiful screen!
I had a Z2, which was a brilliant phone, but I just didn't gel with it. I'm so happy with the S5 right now.

Nexus 5 is a great device too but it suffers from poor battery life, and your stuck with 16 or 32GB. Camera was very hit or miss for me as well.

That rotation thing doesn't happen on the nexus 5 or the Galaxy nexus!

Battery life under my usage is not much different between the nexus 5 and the S5. I still have to charge up when I get home from a day at work, so no difference really!

Sorry, I don't want to rain on your parade here folks. I just found out the hard way that the S5 is not for me after I sold my nexus 5 to buy it!

Its a nice device for sure, but the camera doesn't work for me, so back to a new nexus 5 it is!!

It's a great phone.

Although USB 3.0 doesn't offer quicker charging.

It is all about opinion and preference. People who bought di htc m8 maybe want their phone to have aluminium built. I prefer the s5 because it excels at everything that matters :
1. Excellent battery life ( I never have to charge my phone more than once a day)
2. It is fast enough for me and touchwiz is not bad also. Just make the animation 0.5 and it will be super snappy.
3. Camera is excellent enough for me who is not a photographer
4. Expandable storage and removable battery which is why I never use iphone.
5. Waterproof ! I could wash my phone in front of my friends now ! Hahahhaha
6.although it is plastic I think it is durable and I love the feel in the back.

Like I said, it is all about personal preference.

I can't agree with this. I'll be getting my S5 soon. I have had a chance to fully test 2 S5's and both render outstanding quality images. Even in low light/high ISO it still performs even better than my iPhone 5S..
I suspect most of the issues people have with any camera is they are not photographers and have little knowledge of exposure, camera placement, or lighting as well as other factors and as a result many of their images are of average to poor quality..

On top of that, the pictures and video can come out upside down or sideways when transferred to PC over MTP, depending on which way you were holding the phone when taking them. That's a joke!

This is a NTP issue. My iPhone will do the same. iTunes corrected this issue. Samsung Kies is designed for uploading/downloading to Mac or PC and does it right..

I do think it is a great phone, and deserves more credit than people give it.
I'm planning on switching to the Z3 anyway xD
But I still think it is a great phone

I just bought a S5 off eBay. I tried a LG G3 for a few weeks. It was a really good phone but I found out I much prefer amoled screens to LCD screens. Also the G3 was just a touch to big for everyday use. It was great for games and watching videos but I spend the vast majority of my time on my phone texting/reading forums/email etc. The QHD screen was nice but not much 4K content out right now. Again the G3 is a great phone it just wasn't for me. I'm hoping the S5 is. There really isn't a "best" phone as most flagship phones perform the same and have almost identical CPUs and cameras etc. It's more about which phone fits the users wants and needs based off styling and the features of the phone..
