Incoming text messages on AOD screen?

I like that the incoming text messages show up on the AOD screen for a second but I'd like it better if I could see the whole message and if it could stay there a bit longer. It only shows a few words from the first line of the text and even then it disappears in about 1 second. Does anyone know of a way to configure this for longer duration and more of the text to show? I can't find anything in the settings nor have I seen anything here or online about it.

Looks like you only get a preview of the message option...

This is correct. Does anyone know of a way to get more? I cannot even find something in the voluminous settings to tweak in any direction. You would think there would at the very least be a way of turning it on and off...

Hmmm... I went through all my settings, no option to show full message ...
I recall in older versions of software you could show the entire message on the lock screen... Samsung must have changed that... That's annoying, some people might just want to have a quick look at the message without opening up the device...

I just read the following. I did everything but did not get message synopsis on my AOD. However I think I read if you have edge lighting on it wouldn't work--one or the other.

10 easy steps that will help you turn the Preview Messages On/Off:

Turn on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8;
Swipe down the Notification Bar;
Select the Settings icon;
Select Applications;
Tap on Messages;
Tap on Notifications;
Identify the Preview Message section;
Look at the two options listed under Preview Messages – Lock Screen and Status Bar;
Decide on what location you want to disable the Preview Messages option;
Uncheck the box or the boxes, as you see fit, and leave the menus.

Samething...I've searched and tried all the options to no avail. Worse...thing is Samsung included the settings options in to show content.. but content never really show.

I ended up using the "Glimpse Notifications" app. It's fully free and no ads. Written by an XDA fellow with a thread over there. just by installing the app and giving it permission to notifications...it allows the lock screen...(original built in ...no replacement) to come up while receiving notifications. Unfortunatlly it's not AOD but the orignial one.. YOu can also put in an option of how long the notification stays on or even reoccur. There's also another app I liked called NIS. Anyway....I did not find good AOD applications using the oled display. so I'm stikcing with the two above.

I am convinced that if you do nothing to get things like missing messages on AOD screen, things fix themselves. I had no message synopsis for the last 2 weeks. Now all of a sudden I am getting them on my AOD and home screen. Go figure!

When You say Select Applications - do you mean Apps? In my listing it is Apps. Then When I press Notifications I never get "Preview Message" showing anywhere. (under Messages) Never the 2 options you talk about. Can you clarify?

Sorry it wasn't exactly as written in above.
Under messages I have
Allow notification toggled on
On lock screen --show content is selected
Set as priority is toggled on.

I am now getting all the notifications on my Home Screen after a white bar comes up on AOD at the bottom with an arrow. Then a synopsis of all messages appears on the Home Screen.

Excellent - thank you!
