Increasing game performance

Okay so I've downloaded the Dungeon Defenders game which I've been waiting for since I first saw the video of it on the iPhone 4. The Droid Incredible exceeds all the recommended hardware, why does it run like garbage? So my question being, I'm currently running the phone stock. Will rooting and installing CyanogenMod and putting a new ROM (more than likely smoked glass) and using SetCpu to overclock it increase my game performance? Should I installed a new kernel(which I've never done), if I should do any of these things any recommendations?

Hey I think it has to do with the Kernel. I'm rooted w/ stock rom just removed bloatware I am running chads Kernel, it has GPU+ I think this may help with gaming performance. I have no problems running Dungeon Defenders on the highest video setting. Here is a link to the thread over on xda for Chad's Kernel.

How did you root? Using the unrevoked method?

Yes. Step 1, Google "guide to rooting HTC incredible". Follow the instructions for unrevoked and you'll be fine. I know its scary at first, but you really don't have anything to worry about if you can follow directions.

I'm not worried about rooting, I've done it quite a few times before. Was just curious on how people generally preferred to do it. I'm rooted now running CM6.1 scored a 1356 on Quadrant with Kernel 2.6.32.26-invisiblek-aospdp@dp-lappy#28, was top of the list

Using the unrevoked method it only takes ~2-3 minutes. It's wicked easy.
