increasing limit on Exchange emails

I am new to Android. I just switched from a Palm Pre to a Nexus S 4G and thus far I am really enjoying the Android experience.

On my Palm Pre, there was no limit to the amount of emails I could sync with my Exchange account. With Android, I noticed that the system only lets me sync one month worth of emails; that's it.

I know that there apps like Touchdown that do not limit the emails you can sync. Before I investigate a separate app, I would like to know if there is a "homebrew" (sorry for the Webos term) solution for the problem. My question is whether there any custom ROMS that will let you raise the limit, i.e to six months, regarding the amount of email to sync through your exchange account. Thanks.

I'm with you but haven't even figured out how to make an Exchange account (or hotmail for that matter) sync folders after I delete on the phone, etc...missing the ease of my Pre with the stock apps for these things. Do we really have to install third party software?!?!?

I agree this is very frustrating. Having played around with phone for a few days, I have also discovered more basic functionality that is lacking: I cannot move emails from one exchange folder to another! Is there a quick fix for this?

All of the features you are describing should be there for you. I know I can have mine synch all e-mails for my Exchange account. To move an e-mail to a folder long press the e-mail and the last option is move. The folders other than the inbox may not be synched up until you open them to see what else may be in them. Not sure what mlief means by sync folders after he deletes on the phone. Deleting folders or individual e-mails?

I realize this isn't going to help you directly, but the stock HTC mail client (under Froyo!) can be configured to retrieve "all" mail. Similarly, moving mail from one folder to another is available while reading an individual message (as well as via a long-press in the list of messages).

I have a nexus s 4G running Gingerbread. When I long press an email in exchange I see the following options: Open, Delete, Forward, Reply All, Reply and Mark as unread. The phone will not allow me to scroll up and down on the list. Where is the "move" option?

Is the HTC email application available for other phones?

Depends on the stock app. Not all devices ship with the same mail clients.

If the stock apps don't meet your needs then use another app. You don't have to use the stock apps. It's like your PC. You aren't stuck with Paint, Notepad and Wordpad if you need additional features.

Do you have Hotmail set up via ActiveSync? You can't if it's set up as POP.

On my Incredible Move is the last option on the list. Is it a bug in the ROM?

It's the last option on the HTC mail client. Given that plemelin has the option on his HTC Incredible, it sounds like this isn't an option on the stock google client.

You should take a look on xda-developers to see if a custom ROM has the features you want.

Not that I'm aware of.
