Incredible SDHC card read speeds...

I've been looking for a new micro sdhc for my incoming Incredible.

I just got off the phone with HTC tech support. They said that the Incredible will likely only read the sdhc cards at Class 2 speeds, possibly as high as Class 4 but confirmation of that is subject to more testing. All of their earlier phones prior to the Incredible would read only at Class 2.

I wonder how this might affect running apps from the card when Froyo gets here...

That's per HTC, if there are any specs that indicate otherwise it would be much appreciated.

I want to get as efficient a card as possible but don't see any sense in spending more for what isn't going to make a difference inside the phone itself.

there via the phone only is no speed difference u might see a faster transfer to computer. there are threads giving a better descriptions

Read speeds are limited only by the lanes between the reader's controlling circuitry and the processor of the phone. Not by the class of the card, the class of a card, as stated above is the write speed. So the speed of reading off the card is largely dependent on how fast the phone is to begin with.

The fact that HTC was a little ambiguous in regards to the DI's read speed, class 2 possibly as high as class 4 subject to further testing, leads me to think they are not really certain. The tech did indicate it is a hardware related issue and although the earlier HTC phones were limited at class 2 read speeds she thought perhaps the DI may be faster due to the snapdragon processor.

I just want to get the most effecient card for use in the phone. I'd cough up a few more bucks for the Kingston class 10 if it would make a difference, looking to Froyo and running apps from it.

Running the stock 16gb on my MOTO Droid with apps on my SD phone clocked at 1gz never had any slow downs. I think some people over thank things.

Perhaps, waiting for this phone is getting me a little buggy....:p

When you say the stock 16GB on your mot droid are you referring to internal memory or a card? If it's a card which one are you using?

That's most of it. But if you are huge into taking pictures back to back however the increased write speeds are a plus.
