I recived the droid a few days ago, I love it. Thing is and I hope some people are the same way but I don't know if I should return the droid and get the Incredible. I'm really in some need of guidence lol any help/opinions would be much appreciated. Also I love stock android and never really messed with sense, I just like how stock looks.

here's the most basic breakdown:

want a physical keyboard, completely stock android, slighter higher res screen = DROID

want a larger (dimensions) screen, faster (slightly) processor, higher MP camera (+dual flash), lighter & thinner phone = INCREDIBLE

hope that helps

If it's any help, I tried the Droid for a few weeks in March, but when I learned about the Incredible and Nexus 1, I returned it (went back to my Blackberry) to wait out the release of either/both.

I liked the Droid, but the weight, physical keyboard (hated it, felt cheap), and slower processor were all reasons enough to return it. I originally was planning on getting the N1, but with Google ****ing around with the verizon release, I'm all about the Incredible now!

Does Overclocking Droid Help?

I keep reading about overclocking the droid to make up for the slower-than-snapdragon processor. Would that help narrow the gap with the Incredible? What are the downsides?

the downsides to overclocking?

depending on how you set it and how often it's running at the full overclocked speed, you can experience shorter battery life and increased heat output.

i've also read that even with the droid at 1GHz, in a technical sense, it's still not as fast as the snapdragon.

but the droid at 550MHz is no slouch

This is the answer in a nutshell. I love my Droid and the Incredible isn't quite amazing enough to make me shell out the cash. In the future I won't be getting a phone with a physical keyboard. The keyboard on the Droid works fine, I just don't need it.

I really want both at this point but because Im broke and don't currently have a job... Ill stick with my droid that I run at 600mhz but could bump to a stable 1.2mhz if I ever needed to. I was actually talked into selling my droid and getting a nexus on my wife's t-mo acct... What was I thinking... I like the Droid allot. Wish I could have the same phone but lighter and would totally sacrifice the hard keyboard for it. But I use the slider either way and I'm ok waiting until next year to get the new rockstar (whatever that may be at that time) phone..

I'm in a similar situation as the OP. I got my Droid less than 2 weeks ago. And it was my intention to upgrade to the Incredible if I liked it better.

The things you listed don't really show up on my radar. Here's what is turning me away from the Incredible at the moment.

Reviews say that the screen is nearly impossible to use outside. I was outside mowing while listening to Slacker radio on my Droid a few minutes ago, and it wasn't real easy to use in the sun, but I could do it. I would hate to not be able to answer the phone simply because I'm outside.

The build is said to be cheap. The glass can scratch easy, and the same glass seems to crack a lot in the Nexus One phones. I don't want to have to put a screen protector on my phone just to keep it from scratching. The Droid doesn't have a cheap or delicate feel to it.

The battery life is significantly shorter on the Incredible. If you use apps on it all day you won't make it through the day without a spare battery.

I think those are deal killers to me.

go get it. get the incredible

I have had my droid for two weeks. So go get that phone ,if you don't like it i will xchange my droid for it.

I'd get the Incredible, but just because of how the speed difference.

I also prefer the virtual keyboard of the Incredible to the DROID's hardware one (I've taken time to learn to love virtual keyboards, so that is probably just something strange about me.)

To be honest, I'd jump on the Incredible if it wasn't for one thing... the red accents. ESPECIALLY that earpiece on the front. It totally ruins the look of the phone and draws the eye to somewhere that doesn't really make sense. If there was a way to make that black, I'd feel a lot better. Oh well.

im in a similar boat as you i just got a droid on april 3rd. but im not liking the slide out screen. So i will be swapping for the incredible.

I also have learned to love the virtual keyboard. I have the Eris right now, and it is my first phone without a hardware keyboard and I was a bit apprehensive. I always like physical keyboards way more. But just as you have, I've taken the time to learn how to use both the virtual keyboard, as well as a swype-type keyboard(SlideIT for me). I don't ever want to go back.

I was given the option, today, to switch my Eris to either a Moto Droid or an Incredible. I was an easy choice for me to pick the Incredible. I like the sleeker, curvier look, which is why I got the Eris over the Droid, tho I'm regretting that choice in some ways. I like the design of the Incredibile! With the odd, angular battery case and the red accents. Put that with the current specs, Android 2.1, and HTC's Sense UI, and that is the dream phone for me. The Incredible is very close to being exactly what I was looking for. Glad I only have to wait 10 days, tho it will still seem like an eternity!

On a side note, this is my first post here at Android Central. I am a member at droidforums.net under the same name, and have been following Android Central for a long time. Just finally got around to signing up. Sorry for being so wordy, my typing has a tenancy to get away from me :p Glad to finally be a part of Android Central!!!!

EDIT: I thought it said FONT and not FRONT.

it's hard to not make a brick style device that is dominated by a touchscreen NOT look like the iphone in some way or another.

just another reason i think it's ridiculous some of the patents that apple tries to push through

personally, i think it differentiates itself enough (no stupid chrome bezel, more than one button)

I'm still torn. Battery life is a biggie. It sucks on the Droid. I thought it was supposed to be better on the Incredible because of the amoled screen, which uses less power. I never use the physical keyboard, so that's not an issue. I guess I'll decide once it comes out and I have a chance to play with it. Of course I could wait for a 4.3" device to come out for Verizon.

even if the amoled screen helps, i think the battery is smaller on the incredible than it is on the droid...

I have battery issues with my droid. I now have a spare battery and a charger that charges the battery outside of the phone. Mid day, I do a battery swap.

So how bad is battery life? I am currently a blackberry 8900 user and I don't have any problems going two days with out a recharge. I also realize Blackberry and Droid are very different phones.

I usually charge every night, but I think it is ridiculous if you actually have to use two batteries a day.

I really really want a Droid phone though.
