Hello everyone,

I will be getting my Infuse this coming Friday taking advantage of Best Buy's sale but I am not 100% sure I want to do this. I have been using an iPhone since they came out in 2007 and I keep upgrading every time a new model comes out. There are a few things I will be missing of iOS, like Gamecenter, Netflix, the easiness of syncing, and so on. However, the iPhone has become a "me too" phone, now everyone and their mother has one, call me shallow but I hate walking down the street and seeing most of the people with an iPhone. Plus iOS has bored me already. I want to experience what everybody keeps saying about Android.

I have a few questions and I am hoping you experts have the answers:

In a few occasions I have had to get a new iPhone due to malfunctioning of it, I would go to an Apple store, get the new one, enter my .mac user id and I will have all my contacts, e-mails and calendars, is there anything similar with Android? If I need to get a replacement phone can I get my contacts, calendars, e-mails without having to sync to my PC?

Is there such a thing as syncing with your computer? I am an Apple user (but also have a Windows 7 PC), can I plug my phone to my computer and sync it, do a back up, restore, etc? In other words, if I was to get a replacement phone can I format it to my previous phone's settings by syncing it or do I have to manually download all the apps again, etc, etc.

Can apps be re downloaded without paying for them again?

I can play my iTunes bought music and movies in the Infuse, right? As long as they were purchased after Apple removed the DMR from them, right?

I understand the Infuse does not have visual voicemail but I could use apps like You Mail, am I correct?

Most of the apps I use are available on the Android Market, some are not but are minor apps, games and such. The important ones I will have. How are apps paid for? Credit card or billed to my phone bill. I definitely will miss my iTunes cards. I am surprised Google hasn't come up with their own.

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I am making the right decision and will not regret it and end back with iOS before my 30 days are up.

Thank you so much,

Luis

I'll try to answer a few of your questions.

There is samsung software that lets you sync your phone to the computer. I believe it is called Kies. However, I have never used it so I do not know what features it has or allows you to do between your phone and computer sync. I too kind of miss the easiness of iphone to mac syncing. All calender, contacts and apps where on both.

I am pretty sure that apps can be re-downloaded once paid for. If not, there are app backup programs you can get from the market to save all your apps if your phone crashes. Also, you pay either via paypal or you add a credit card for google transactions (or whatever it's called).

For iTunes stuff...I'm not quite sure how to answer this one. I would assume you could play aac files, and if not, theres plenty of programs you can download on your computer to convert them to something the Infuse will actually take.

1. If you use gmail for email, contacts, and calendar all your info will resynced to the new phone.
2. Yes all apps that have been paid for can downloaded again if you delete them.
3. I think apps are paid with google check-out tied to a cc or paypal.

And here I thought the Indecisive was a new phone coming out.... (Infuse, Inspire, Indulge, Intrepid, Insipid, Indecent, etc etc)...

>> I have all my contacts in GMAIL, android will sync up with your phone & Gmail, two way sync.

>> Yes, certainly

>> Some one can answer this.

I understand the Infuse does not have visual voicemail but I could use apps like You Mail, am I correct?
>> You can use YouMail or Google voicemail..either one..

Payment for Android Market - AT & T account or Credit Card
Payment for Amazon Appstore - From your Amazon account.

>> You will not go back from Android...

I like android for these few reasons
- I setup Bluetooth OBEX file Transfer in my laptop and move files between computer and phone. No wires, works handly for transferring songs from computer to phone.
- Google Maps Voice Navigation
- Sip works flawlessly, Free calls in US with 3G from GrooveIP or (Google voice & sipgate configured in CsipSimple)
- Google Music for Cloud
- Stunning widgets

I came from the iPhone 4. Infuse blows it away. Now everyone that sees my phone says "wow that is a nice phone, what is that?"

Had one of my baseball coaches taking pictures of it with his iPhone 4 to show his buddy lol.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I actually laughed out loud at the comment thinking that Indecisive was a new phone, lol.

I got my Infuse on Friday and although it is a great phone there are a few things I seriously dislike. I will write a post about it but they are mostly the mail app, the camera less not good for close ups (macros) and others. I will post in another thread with more details.

Luis
