Unfortunately, mine won't update for some reason. I've only had the phone a couple weeks, and when I try to update it, it says there is no firmware. After calling AT&T, I was instructed to download and install Zune software, that that would allow my phone to update. Yes, that's right, Microsoft Zune software. Incredulously, I installed it as directed, and plugged my phone into the USB port. The Zune software would not recognize my phone, regardless of how I selected the connection - kies/media player/usb storage. I am running totally stock android.
I was then told I should take it to the AT&T store (35 miles away), where they can 'plug it in' and update it for me. I was so looking forward to having this phone, but in two weeks I am running into problems. Lord help me if they do ever update to gingerbread (I would wager $ it's not going to happen ever for the infuse though)
I've ripped videos to my pc, and transferred them to my microSD card, where only one will play on the phone. I can play them all straight from the microSD card plugged into a USB port on my pc, but when I install the card into the phone, after the media scan, all show up, but only one is playable. All were ripped using the same settings from the same program.
I have very poor signal quality in my area (1 or 2 bars) despite being less than a mile from the AT&T cell tower. According to AT&T, the signal strength in my area is just fine. When I drive within a few hundred yards of the tower, the signal becomes stronger, and I get 5 bars. Conversely, within a few hundred yards of passing said tower, I go back down to 1 or 2 bars. Often times no one in my family (4 lines) can make a call from inside our home, we have to step outside.
The solution I was offered for the signal issue is to purchase the infamous 'micro cell' so I can call over WiFi. So I need to shell out even more of my money to purchase something that I should already be receiving.
In retrospect, I regret choosing AT&T as my carrier. I originally signed up with cingular, it was that long ago. Promise after promise of upgrades and better service as they upgraded never materialized. Sadly, I made the mistake of renewing the contract for another 2 years. Rest assured, I will not renew again, and will go with another carrier. If I could buy out each phones' contract, I would, but in this Oconomy, I don't have a spare $1200 to do so.
Everyone's situation is different, as I am sure there are folks who are satisfied with their service. I didn't intend this to be a rant, and I am fairly laid back, but can only take so much Bravo Sierra. There are more issues I've had, above is only a sample.
Thanks for listening!
