FedEx is apparently making me sweat the delivery of this phone out. It's on the truck for delivery, but at almost 5:00pm now, I don't know if I'll make the T-Mobile store to get a new SIM. Needless to say, been waiting all day for it.

Do I wait til I get the SIM and then set up the phone, or can I set it up before? Does doing one or the other have an adverse effect on the phone and how it behaves?

doesn't make any difference but its nice to have the Sim in and set it up.

t-mobile stores are usually open until 8 pm

I setup my 6P without a SIM. It took me a week to transfer all files from previous phone (a Blackberry!), download all the apps I would need, and setup the phone. It was like moving from one house to another. I won't be doing it for a awhile.

I was in a similar situation--I got mine last night, but realized that I only had a miniSIM on hand, not a nanoSIM. So I set the phone up as much as I could without a SIM, and then went to T-Mobile today to get the nanoSIM and finish everything up. No problems for me!

By the way, FedEx was horrible with the delivery. The tracking site initially said it would be delivered last Thursday 12/3. I rearranged my day to make sure I'd be around, since the package would be left on the doorstep otherwise (interestingly, no signature needed for a $700 phone!). At around 9 PM, the tracking changed to "Delivery Exception, delivery not attempted," with no further explanation. Was rescheduled for 12/4, and the same thing happened. Rescheduled for Monday 12/7, and I called FedEx in the AM to see if it was actually going to be delivered, and the guy said yes. But the same thing happened, for the 3rd business day in a row! Finally arrived on 12/8. Complained to FedEx customer service, but they said the holiday season can cause delays. That's fine, but they really need to give more details on their tracking site, since that's all we have to go on when figuring out how to accept delivery. And 3 failed deliveries in a row is kind of ridiculous. I couldn't even ask for it to be held at the delivery station for me to pick up, because apparently Google puts a restriction on the delivery to prevent pickup. Not sure how leaving it on my doorstep for several hours is any safer.:-\

Oh yeah, the phone is friggin awrsome.:p

This. Normally I have the SIM before the phone so I just pop the SIM in before I even boot the phone up.

Wow, glad you finally got it. And yes, I got the holiday delays explanation as well. I guess I'm just anxious because I had to cancel my initial order with Huawei after waiting for over a month.

Finally received the phone, and all I can say is, wow. The feel in hand is wonderful. The cool to the touch aluminum is fantastic. None of the reported issues so far. Granted, I need to get a nano SIM, but so far so good.

Another similarity! I had ordered mine from Huawei 10/24, and it never got past processing, even though it was supposed to be for "late November delivery." Once November was past, I told Huawei to cancel. At least now I get Nexus Protect as well!

Ditto! I'm listening to music on the phone right now. I adore the large screen, and the speaker output is great. Adaptive brightness is off, and set at the lowest possible setting, with no funky hues. I'm loving it so far, I can't wait to get the new SIM tomorrow. My S3 looks funny next to this beast, lol.
