hi folks and thread readers in perpetuity.....

Just received Optimus T NIB, unboxed it and put the SIM and Batt in to fire it up.
As usual, the manual is worthless for things that matter.

On the web via WIFI in my rural area, its fabulous.
Making calls, however, is a FAIL.

I wonder why?

Quick explanation: I'm a lifetime high-tech worker trying to learn the Android ropes - can I get and Android mobile device that performs out-of-box one-handed intuitively? So far the answer is: 'are you kiddn' me?'

So, brand new optimus T for T-mobile. Totally non-intuitive to just get the basics done, but as you can see, got on the wifi ap and its quick/accurate/good. Calling is not.

At First, it wouldn't call at all because its looking for cell - does not comprende' WIFI.

My QUESTION: Is there a way to inform this phone that it is not going to get cell tower coverage therefore it MUST USE WIFI ????
my ancient Nokia 6301 does this without being told.....

thanks
C

I would also like to know how to do this. The network signal is very weak at my home, too weak to ever make calls. It seems if my HTC MyTouch detects any network signal at all it will not use wifi for phone calls.

Wifi calling works on-and-off and I am assuming it has to with whether the phone detects any network signal - Jib

Wi-Fi Calling | T-Mobile

This works for me. It just doesn't connect properly sometimes but turning it off and on usually does it!

Cheers,
