Initial thoughts

Phone is great, everything running smoothly as expected. I'm really liking the live focus video and photo mode where everything is black and white other than the focus. Display as usual is stunning especially on the big 10+. Battery should be fine since I never am concerned with battery life on any of my phones with so many wireless chargers around me all the time. Using the default Samsung launcher just like I did on S10, don't see a reason to switch to Nova though I still miss the Google feed on the left.

Overall first impressions has been great on the 10+. I also got the 10 just in case if I don't like the size of the 10+, and so far haven't felt the need to downsize. Let's see if I feel the same way after few days and initial excitement has settled down.

Got mine yesterday. So far it's great, coming from a Note 8. Some features still not available i.e. the 3d scanning app from Samsung is still not in the galaxy app store, and the dex app download is still not available

I am not a fan of the "power" button being on the left side. I am used to using that button to close/lock the screen. I don't care about where it is to power off the phone, since I do not do that very often. I do want to shut off/lock the screen when I put it in my pocket and I am used to using my thumb for that.

couple of things worth mentioning, if you are migrating from another Samsung device and plan on using switch be sure to allow your new 10 or 10+ to power up and do its thing before using switch, or the device could hang up during the migration process. If that happens just reboot and start the installation again.

one annoyance is switch doesn't attach custom sounds to anything you may have setup ie. I use a custom notification sound for Starbucks when my drink is ready...it's a clip of the guy in the movie Volcano saying "it's coffee time, java, cappuccino". It takes several hours to put the phone just the way I like it...but it looks just like my Note 9 now.

I purchased the 512Gb Note 9 but that was mainly for the higher ram.

In the real world I used around 70gb of the internal storage and that includes what is gated off for the Os.

So I've gone for the 256gb Note 10+ 5G in Aurora Black storage this time as it's the same Ram as the higher storage version.

I'm curious did you need 512gb version even with the inclusion of a Sd card if needed. Was the 256 version in stock maybe for the Aurora Glow option.

Either way I'm sure you'll get the phone asap.

I went with the 512 GB version. Probably overkill, but 256 GB of high speed storage for $100 is a good deal. I am interested in seeing how it performs with the new file system.

I use a lot of storage. I travel a lot and do not like streaming.

Got mine yesterday morning. As an upgrade from an S10 device....this is a very minor update....unless you use the pen of course. virtually every thing is similar. coming from a Note 9, other than the thickness and weight, you might be able to say the same thing. Coming from anything earlier than that...this is a good update.

I'm happy with the device. Not really thrilled about the loss of health sensors..but I have the Galaxy watch, so I can live with it. Never had any problems with the fingerprint sensor, or the face scan...so I can't compare to the comments others have made. The shortcut for screen shot is cool. I use ONENOTE and the pen works by default with that. I also use Your Phone on my Windows PC. The NOTE 10 out of the box synced with the PC. I did nothing , and yet it was synced.

Because of the discount/Rebates offered, this is a great deal. If you have the S10 varients and do not need the pen, probably not much of an update...unless, you're weird, like many of us...and just gotta have it.

At least for me the fingerprint sensor is way better than S10+. I had about 70% success on S10+ and haven't had a fail her yet and a lot faster.

This thing is fast even compared to my Note 9, everything flies with no delays.

I like that the screen is flatter and has less curve than the Note 9, but why are the letters and graphics so freakin large even at the smallest setting, defeating the purpose of a larger display?

But the fingerprint sensor may be the deal breaker. It's just not reliable and takes too long to get to home screen even when it registers. This is with the August patch.

I typically input my Samsung Account Info and use my back up to move my stuff into the new phone which has always seemed to work for me.

Loss of health sensors. Excuse my denseness but will the phone still be able to count your steps. I wear the watches that track this very seldom. My Max does track steps without the watch though.

Coming from an S10+ its a pretty meh switch to me so far but I did not expect it to be a huge upgrade. I do like the smaller and centered hole punch, bigger screen and what appears to be smaller bezels. Something seems off in the notifications to me and maybe it's just a setting that can be changed. As an example, on my S10+ when I got a notification from the messages app or Gmail it would bold the sender's name. Other than that it's pretty much the same experience on a large screen with an S-Pen. I've always been more of a Note fan and love the pen, so happy overall, but if not a Note enthusiast the S10+ is likely a better buy.

Yes. It does still track steps via Samsung health app.

I have found the upgrade to be fine so far coming from the Note 9, fingerprint sensor works fine, almost too good if I'm honest and looking at some reviewers saying it's slow and lethargic well mine isn't that's for sure.
It has been used constantly since I opened the box about 5pm today updating apps etc after smart switch, I haven't taken many photo's yet but plenty of time for that. I set the face unlock to try it but went back to fingerprint scan, it just feels more secure.

Samsung Dex is working fine, I have it running on one of my other monitors while typing this, use your Note 9 charge cable (USB-C to USB-A) for this if you have no other specific cable and the 25 watt charger is great, I was pretty impressed with how fast it went from 45% to 85% so no need for me to get that 45watt charger.

I have left the screen protector on that Samsung fitted, it looks good so we'll see how it fares over the coming weeks/months and the Samsung Protective Standing Cover fits great.

When I upgraded from the Note 8 to the Note 9 last year I had that constant feeling that I had made a mistake and should have held on to that phone, but this year I have no such thoughts, I'm a happy chappy!

Cons.... Its a shame we didn't get a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle in the box for people with existing 3.5mm headphones (me included) after they removed the jack.
It's also a bit shabby of Samsung not including the 3D scan option from initial setup, I had to go hunting for the APK as it wasn't installed on my phone like many others, not a dealbreaker but still.

you just made me extra happy for my pre order. I need jumbotron size print. I'm legally blind. I put my phone at the largest font it can go up to. That the whole purpose of large display for me.

I'm not blown away, I also have the S10+ so the differences are minimal. I'm actually feeling it might be a bit too big for me and heavier.

Even though the general consensus is that the camera hole on the Note 10+ is better than in the S10+ because it’s smaller, the placement of it makes me notice it more. Sometimes I forget it has it and my eyes go straight to it while on the S10+, I rarely noticed it. Maybe I got used to the camera hole on the S10+ but I feel I prefer it’s placement better.

My experience with face unlock, maybe I need to rescan my face but it was faster on the S10+ and it would scan it from a farther distance. On the Note 10+, I get many NO MATCHES.
The sound, it’s louder on the Note 10+ but I wouldn’t say that’s better. Maybe I need to play with the sounds settings more but I prefer how my S10+ sounds over the Note 10+….to me, the S10+ sounds clearer, if a tidbit lower.

I’m seriously considering returning the Note 10+ and just sticking with the S10+, what I love about the Note 10+ is the faster charging speeds and the minor improvements to the camera.

Comparing it to my old Note 9, the Note 9 impressed me more coming from the S9+ then the Note 10+ did coming from the S10+. Comparing both notes, I prefer the pen size on the Note 9 and I prefer the FPS on the back as well. I don’t really care about the 3.5mm jack.

The colour is absolutely gorgeous! I won't buy the Note 10 but man, that back is snazzy!
