Inner display protector

Trying to decide what to do. Didn't even give this issue a second thought until this thread came up. Purchased my z fold 3 off of Swappa a few weeks and this thing is pristine. Haven't had one ounce of trouble with it. Started looking at it a little closer about two days after purchasing it and realized the screen protectors weren't on it. Neither one. Several people were mentioning how nice the new screen protector was on the inside this time around so I was just thinking it was on there but alas it wasn't. So when this thread brought it up that UBreakiFix will fix it, it made me wonder if I should get it replaced?? I really love the feel of this screen like it is now.. So just wondering... There's another thread on here or Reddit discussing if warranty is voided when screen protector is off and the conclusion there is "Per Samsung warranty is ok even with screen protector off under normal use??" (Don't hold me to that because I haven't talked to them myself)

If they install a factory PET protector, you will love the feel of it. When I use mine, it's as smooth as glass. No catching, no anything. It's nice. :D

At the risk of slightly hijacking this thread, let me share my experience for the benefit of others.

I got a scratch about 1/2" long on the inner screen protector. I figured if it was cheap to replace, I would replace it since I am slightly OCD. Therefore, I called around to 6-7 UBreak stores in the Chicago area (per Sammy's website) and none of them replaced the inner protector. Therefore I called Sammy and at first they said it would be 20 bucks (OK) then said it would be covered under warranty (better). So I sent it in on November 8 and got it back 7 days later. Instead of fixing it, or simply sending it back unfixed, some ***** partially removed the protector which left tons of bubbles and a dog ear where they started, and sent it back. It was brutal. When I called they told me that they sent it back because they couldn't get a hold of me to remove the lock (I didn't lock it, and they never called me). Therefore, I sent the phone back again and this time they told me it was out of warranty and it would cost $108 to fix it (even though their emails said it would be fixed under warranty). To make a long story short, I spoke to yet another rep who said they would fix it for 20 bucks, which is probably fair since the original scratch is probably my fault. As I type, they still have the phone and who knows what it will look like when I get it back.

My advice: take pictures of your phone before you get it repaired and if you can get to a repair shop, do that instead of sending it in.

Toes Up: Good advice about taking pictures. But if local ubreakifix won't repair it I will not be sending it in to Samsung. I had ubreakifix replace broken back glass on note 10+ and they did an excellent job.

Here is a pic of my screen. Just for reference

I had this issue with the stock screen protector but my friend recommended Gadgetshieldz's full-body protector which covers my Z Fold's entire body. Using this for 2 months and I didn't have any bubbling issues because it sticks well to the display.

Yeah I would highly recommend going the routed of 3rd party screen protectors and not UBreak. I think they either messed up my screen or may even it was the screen that had a defect. Idk either way they ended up replacing the screen, after going through 3 digitizer due to defective ones. The screens are directly attached to the Bluetooth and wifi functionality as this was the reason they went through 3 of them. Replacing the screen also replaces the frame as well, and for some reason they put a new battery in it as well. Besides the fact that they had it for 6 days the factory reset it and this caused me to be removed from the Beta, in which I can't get back into it.

Bottom line, next time I will just do Whitestone Dome or Gadgetshield or the likes.

Never know till someone takes the plunge right?

My highly recommended advice is to keep the oem screen protector on as long as humanly possible. If it MUST be replaced I would suggest only allowing Samsung themselves to do it. I would NEVER allow a 3rd party like ubreakifix (regardless or not if they're a Samsung Approved repair shop or not). I would just peel it off and either leave it naked or put my own approved screen protector on. I would be reluctant to let some bozos manhandle my Fold 3. hmph.

Samsung sent me to UBreak. They are now the authorized service centers so your advice doesn't apply here.
