Insane Battery Drain

I left my house at 7:30AM at 100%. It is currently 10:38AM and my watch is sitting at 25%. I didn't have many notifications this morning, a couple text, a few emails. I tried out Google Maps Micro on the way to work this morning which was about 25 minutes and shut it off when I got to work. I noticed my watch was waking up on its own, even though I have ambient mode and wrist gestures off. I had to force it off with theatre mode to keep it off. Hoping for better results than this tomorrow. If this keeps up, I'll be returning it.

Does this happen regardless of the watchface? Some watchfaces are much worse than others when it comes to drain.

Is this your first day with the watch?
On my first day with my watch, the battery barely last to noon. Two months later, I'm over 80% at the same time of the day.
A lot of user report a huge improvement after a week or two.

This is Day 4 for me. My first full day I got 11 hours, then 2 days of 14 or so hours each. I can't figure out why my phone kept waking itself up, with Ambient Mode and Wrist Gestures off though. My screen wasn't very bright either, so I'm not entirely sure what the deal is exactly. I still have 10 days of trial period, so I'm not too worried yet, I just hope it settles down by then.

When in doubt factory reset the watch, then on your phone, Android Wear, select the watch and forget it.
Then set up the watch with your phone as a new pairing.

What i have found for me is to wait about 30 minutes after pairing and syncing is complete.
Then power off the watch and power it back on. After that no issues for me.

Did you turn on Play Music sync to watch? That can take a long time and is a huge drain. As far as the watch turning itself on, though it's supposed to when you raise your wrist, it'll do it also with inadvertent skin contact (crossing your arms for example). Or maybe yours has an overactive accelerometer.

I just use one of the stock watch faces, nothing too fancy there. I don't use Google Play so I don't think that's it. QuickMemo+_2015-09-16-14-09-13.jpg
Besides these I have Calculator for Android Wear installed and I don't think any of them are battery hogs. I'll give it a reset tonight and see how it goes tomorrow.

Doing some further research, I've come to the following conclusions. I drive a concrete truck for work, and this turns the watch on and on and on and on repeatedly with my driving motions, which drains the battery......I just discovered the buried settings screen in Android Wear/GearMoto360 and TILT TO WAKE SCREEN.....or I could always just use theater mode. It also appears that some people on XDA have success with blocking the Maps app from the watch, while others are reporting that even with Maps blocked, there seems to be some Bluetooth communication that is still happening and killing the watch when they are using the Navigation app on their phone(and not just the Moto 360 but ZenWatch as well). Too bad, I don't often use Navigation, I know my city fairly well, but there are always the newer areas where I might need a little help. We have a pretty strict no cellphone policy at work, I thought the watch would come in handy. I suppose there's always my Bluetooth headset and voice directions.
I think I have this sorted out now. I should be able to get a decent day out of it tomorrow, hopefully.

Nice detective work! You could also turn on Theater Mode, although that would keep the screen off until you triple-tapped it.

I notice this on my watch as well, if "tilt to wake" is on the watch turns itself on every time I turn left :) LOL.

I just leave Tilt to Wake of most of the time. Glad you got it figured out!

Yep, theatre mode while driving is a good idea. I don't usually do that since my commutes is only 15 minutes. But when I have a long drive, so most of the time also a long day ahead, I switch to theatre mode when I'm driving.

I had been getting worse battery life ever since the last system update, basically 12 hours. I just got a new Moto X Pure phone though, so I just had to do a factory reset - we will see if that brings the battery life back to what I used to get (lasting from 8AM until 11PM still with at least 20% juice left).

Mine did this a couple of days ago. I installed Calculator for Wear the night before and throughout next the morning the watch screen would randomly come on. My battery went down pretty quick during the day. I removed Calculator for Wear and it is back to normal.

Good news, after 13.5 hours today I still have 70% battery left, whereas before I did a factory reset, my battery would be at zero at this time. So factory reset really did work, only thing different right now is that I had a stock watchface today and not my usual favorite, but it wasn't a big battery hog anyway.

I normally made it through 1-2 days light/medium usage on the last update but since the current update for interactive watch faces I'm getting 1 day maximum. I always have tilt to wake on and always used the stock watch faces. Nothing has changed in my usage habbits

I will probably try a factory reset soon and report back if this solves the issue

Are you using Ambient Mode? With the latest update, Ambient Mode on the Moto 360 is now in an always on dimmed state whereas before it would dim for a time and then shut off completely once you turned your watch away from your sight line.

I have to do a reset every couple of months. For some reason battery life will inexplicably go to non-existent. The reset always fixes it, at least for 8-12 weeks.

What can be the reason for draining the battery on the 1st day and performance increase later. I bought Moto 360 today, charged upto 80% in 30mins. Is this normal?

I just got a new 2nd Gen and yesterday was my first full day with it. I didn't do all that much and it went from 100% to 5% in 12 hours. At the 5% mark it switched off the screen from ambient mode and about an hour later I got it on the charger with 3%. I was pretty disappointed with that but will see if today is similar. Anything in particular I should check? I definitely need it to last my normal day which would be about 15-16 hours off the charger.

Sorry, didn't realize there was a forum for the new version. I'll post there.
