Install New rom/radio , retain all apps, files and settings

Can this be done?

I came from an iphone where an update kept all your files and apps in place.

I have a rooted thunderbolt, How do I switch to a new rom with the new radio firmware but still keep all my apps/settings/homescreens intact..

I am not sure if flashing a radio will wipe your data, but when doing a rom, usually unless it is a patch then it will wipe you data on the phone.

Yes, but you can backup/restore your apps/data using a program like MyBackupRoot or Titanium backup after the new ROM is installed.

My backup pro will get all of that. Widgets will be busted, but their place holders will be there.

Use mybackup root. It will save all your settings, alarms, bookmarks, texts, everything. When you restore it will even put your icons and widgets back on their respective screens. Just go to the market, download it after you flash, and restore. Couldn't be easier...
