Installing 2.2 on 2.1 stock droid

Do i need to root my phone first before i can install android 2.2. Or can i install it striaght from 2.1 stock. Thanks!

Your phone would need to be rooted on 2.1 and then you would follow the instructions for going to 2.2.

ya you need to ennable root in order to flash the recovery and install the rom.

im going to lock this but just go over to the the droid roms and hacks section because it will be the best place to get answers when you have questions about roms/hack/rooting/etc.
