Insurance options

I haven't looked at the insurance options in a while since I'm coming from a Moto Z Force, which due to the unbreakable screen I never really worried about damage.

But given the high cost of the N8 and the all glass front and back, I'm considering getting the insurance now. I'm on Verizon, which looks like it is $11 a month for coverage, but also considering Squaretrade or Samsung plans which look like they're cheaper.

Any recommendations on which plans are better or which are a headache to deal with? I'm mostly concerned with cracked screens and not so much with loss/theft since I've never had an issue with losing a phone, just the occasional drop.

I'm planning to go with square trade. still testing my phone so don't want to mess with it right now, but in a day or two that's who I'm going with. I'm not fond of Sammy CS so would rather not have their insurance.

had a great experience with square trade when I had to replace the screen on my s8+....looks to be $129 for 2 years or $159 for 3 years....

exactly what I needed to hear. did you have to then buy a new policy to continue covering it after the break?

Auto Insurance. Call them and ask if they have carry personal articles policy. State Farm had it and it was like $69 annually no deductible.

the phone was still covered after that...it was 2 year policy but IIRC, it only remains active until they payout in repairs what the phone is worth when you bought it...

I had crack on my s8+...I opened a claim online on THU, made an appointment with Best Buy to replace the screen on SAT, provided the receipt that day and had a check minus the $99 deductible about a week later...

stellar. thank you. that's all I could ask for.

That's the one I got, 3 years. I have had Square Trade on all our phones, never had to use it though.

Have you looked at Worth? www.worthavegroup.com ? At one time they were reported to be very affordable, but I haven't looked into them in a while.

I have Worth Ave Group on all my phones. The $899 insurance cost me $78 for a year, $50 deductible. But covers just about everything. Even theft, which most insurance don't. Don't always just look at the price, check what it covers. If someone steals your brand new 8, are you covered? If you put it down on the bus and walk off with it laying on the seat, are you covered? If your Samsung Auto goes up in flames and you forgot the phone on the seat, is it covered? Worth covers all that and more.

I used it once for a bad phone. They sent me a check for the full amount of the price of a new one. They are a great company to deal with. But if someone had stolen my Note Edge, I'd just be out a phone. :(

they don't cover loss. I asked them. called directly and asked. that said, have you ever had a successful claim with them? was it easy and quick. flawless in execution?

I looked at Progressive who has my insurance for everything else and they use Worth Ave Group and it says it covers Theft, maybe that's with the partnership with Progressive. Not sure if I want to do this or Square Trade.

thanks for this. I never liked progressive. that seals it for me.

eta - if I change my mind I'll go direct through worth
