How does the warranty or insurance work when ur screen cracks or lost phone, do i still pay insurance thru att or someone else or does the phone come with some possibly a yr

It automatically comes with a 2 year warranty. I havent read the warranty description that carefully, but seem to recall that it is pretty robust and would cover a cracked screen.

I see newegg offering warrantys but not sure if thats extended or actual coverages for lost and stolen and glass breaks and water damages

Well we could all just keep speculating, which is fun for a while, or we could go out to ZTE website and read the actual warranty: https://www.zteusa.com/passport/

Where we can find this:
7. Premium Protection Plan

ZTEUSA provides a free–of-charge Premium Protection Plan with the purchase of every AXON device. This means there are no insurance premiums or monthly fees. The only cost to the consumer will be a deductible charge of only $79.99 USD for each claim. The Premium Protection Plan covers incidental consumer damages related to handling issues such as an accidental drop, minimal liquid exposure, or overuse conditions (i.e. cracked LCD, some forms of water ingress, USB connector damage, etc.). Intentional damage and misuse are not covered. The coverage period for the Premium Protection Plan is twenty four (24) months from the original date of purchase. Policy coverage only applies to the original purchaser and is not transferrable to others. Please refer to the Premium Protection Plan for further details.

So, technically it's not free. You have to pay $80

Technically the warranty is free, as in zero money. If you need to have a repair done under warranty, the deductible is $80. If you never need it you will never give up any money compared to other warranties that you pay a set amount every month for and if you don't need it you have spent money for nothing.

For issues covered by warranty, there is zero cost. They even pay for shipping both ways. The deductable only applies if it's one of the conditions that falls under the premium protection plan. I had a similar plan with Samsung, and I had to pay an up-front fee to get the plan, PLUS a deductable every time I used it.

So I guess the way to put it is the warranty is free as is the Protection Plan. The only cost is if the Protection Plan is used for something that is not a warranty repair.

I really like that warranty plan, will definitely save me money long term from paying for AT&T's horrible coverage or even Square Trade!

Can't wait to get mine!

IMO very generous warranty plan. Carrier plans charge you a monthly premium + high deductible should you use the warranty. Squaretrade charges an up-front fee and deductible. With this, it's just a deductible, and $80 is a pretty low one at that for a smart phone.
