In the past when I connected my phone to my computer I always got two things SD Card and Removable Disk. Today I noticed a third CD Drive: Verizon Mobil. Has that always been there or is this new and what can we do with it?

It's new with Froyo. It's there to enable the install of VZ Media Manager. There are a few threads that document how to disable it with the Dial Pad.

that came with the FroYo update and its been annoying people for quite a while

this has been shown to work in stopping that

Dial ##7764726
Hit Call
Type Password 000000 (that's 6 zeros)
Hit Feature Settings
Choose CD ROM
Click Disable
Hit menu, commit modifications (it will say no item changed)

Thanks. It was pretty useless on my Mac and would give me an "unreadable disk" error every time I plugged it in.

I have this same thing. So annoying! Especially since VZ Media Manager isn't even compatible with Windows 7 yet!
