Interesting Thing about Battery Behavior

I'm new to the world of Smart Phones and I discovered something about charging my battery that seems like it's newsworthy to me. I just hope that people won't yawn and say that everyone already knows about this.

I have found that charging my battery using a connection to an electrical outlet is very much faster than using a USB port outlet. About 2.5 times faster.

I just hope that I'm not mistaken about this or that everyone will already know about this.

That's correct. AC outlets put out significantly more current than USB ports.

Standard USB ports charge at up to .5A while your AC will charge at higher speeds, sometimes up to 2.1A. I believe the S4 takes a maximum charge of 2.1A but it typically charges at 1.9A with the stock charger.

Am I also correct in the observation that my phone charges significantly faster when it is charging while powered off instead of just the screen lock?

I don't know if it'll be much faster powered off, but yes, it will be faster since the phone isn't using any power at all while powered off. If the phone is on but asleep, it's still using some power, so it will take a little longer to charge up.
