Simple 'DJ' app?

Does anyone happen to know of any simple but good 'DJ Apps' in existence? I did some searching but nothing applicable really popped out.

What I'm looking for is something simple, with simple controls, that can play a specific audio file or a random audio file.

To elaborate, I'm looking for something to play audio for my daughters hockey games. One thought I had was to build a device using something like a Raspberry Pi Nano 2w, Zero 2w or maybe something else. But my problem there is I can't code my way out of a wet paper bag. I can without question physically put the hardware bits together, but the coding to make it actually work is beyond my grasp.

The idea being there's a simple screen with 'Goal', 'Random', 'Stop' and likely volume up and down (might also just be able to use the volume buttons on the device). When goal is pressed, it plays a file out of a specified folder (goal). When gameplay starts, stop can be pressed and whatever's playing immediately stops. During warmups or between plays, the random button can be pressed and a random song from a specified folder (Mix or whatever) will be played, and again, when 'Stop' is pressed, it stops playing immediately. Fairly simple.

This could also be done with an app, I'd think.

Does anyone know if such an app exists?

Welcome to AC!
Look at this one

Thanks for the suggestion, but that one's not going to work out. While, with quite a bit of tinkering, I may be able to figure it out and make it do what I'm looking for, there's a lot to it and it's unlikely I could just hand it to someone else if I wasn't going to be there for some reason. And one part that I left out because I didn't think about is it would need to work on Android no higher than 9. I have an old tablet that works great, but is stuck at Android 9 and would be perfect for this function. While I couldn't hand my phone to someone else if I wasn't going to be there, this tablet I could no problem.

I have a feeling what I'm looking for doesn't exist and either I'd have to find someone to make it or make it myself (I don't have high hopes for making it myself, but with the right starting point, who knows. I don't have any idea what writing Android apps is like). But I'd be happy to be proven wrong and find that there is something that simple already out there.

This is essentially the level of simplicity for the apps interface I'm looking for (pardon the rudimentary MSPaint drawing lol):

Like I said, SUPER simple interface that I could hand to anyone and they could operate it no problem.

Edit: Ok, that was odd... The forum wouldn't let me most saying it looked like spam or had suspicious link(s) in it, and after I removed the link to that app, it was like 'OK'.
🤷‍♂️

Spam prevention. You don't have enough posts yet to share links, even if they are quoted.

I think what you want is a soundboard app. Those are generally designed to more or less do what you want, but aimed at short sound bites. A short GOAL sound effect should be possible, but I'm not familiar enough with them to know if they could play full songs or handle a random function. I know it's not a lot to go on, but hopefully this gets you pointed in the right direction.

FYI a DJ app is meant for a dance type setting, where you are mixing songs on the fly as non-stop music. It's an entirely different use case than what you are looking for, which is why the one you looked at didn't work.

Yeah, it seems my terminology was off. Fair enough.

Any suggestions on a direction to look to try and make my own app? The searching I did took me to 'hello world' type starts, but does Android development have a more visual development capability, where you can start with a canvas, put a button on it, and set what that button should do like "look in 'configbutton1' folder and play that media" and go from there? In my head it seems like a super simple app to make (nothing even remotely close to making something like the Angry Birds apps lol), with the right knowledge and/or tools, but I could be way off base.
