Considering they were talking specifically I regards to the new iPhones, I think there was inherent bias in the switch. You may see a similar result if you did the same thing with the Note 9 release. But here's some more info, and it does look like the overall trend was more Android to iOS moves than vice versa.Ha! .. and how many came from iOS to Android...? That part seems to be omitted.
