Hey all!

Did some searching around and didn't find anything about this so figured I'd ask but is it possible either through root or through root and a custom ROM (maybe the dev could make it this way in his ROM) to make the Internal Storage part of the storage for apps?.. I am figuring that it is already just one memory chip and it's split up into RAM/ROM/Int Storage. The Evo, D2 and DX all have their int storage for apps where as we have a lame 768MB.. which seems to say I am low on space when I should have plenty left over.. apps2sd in Froyo is nice and all but these phone really should have more internal memory for apps and not all apps have added apps2sd support nor does it move the entire app. :/
I don't know.. maybe I'm the only one that thinks this is lame and a bit useless to have internal storage plus a sd card.. especially when nothing but built in apps and the OS can see the internal storage to use it.. my file manager can't even access it.. I have to plug in my phone and mount it to add/remove stuff on it.
My Droid Incredible rocks but really needs more "hard drive" space for apps, especially with all these games from the iPhone coming over that are designed with 16GB and 32GB models in mind.. Thanks in advanced.

cool so it is possible then! but only as a custom ROM and not with only root? That ROM looks pretty good, kinda dig the Droid2/X style dock. I would really like to try Uncommon Sense (which I see you're running), wonder if that is something they'd be willing to implement or have a alt version for? that is a lot to ask for though... I suppose if enough people wanted it they might. But like I said maybe it's just me that thinks it's a poor use of memory.. :) Anyways thanks, I have been hesitant to go with a custom rom I know the devs are really smart and fix things fast but I'm worried about things not working.. I've wanted to at least root though so I can enjoy those perks. :)

I tried New Guy for a few days, I really liked the Rom, very stable and smooth. There were just features I liked about Uncommon that brought me back.

I am starting to tinker around with cooking a rom, I'd like to take what I like from all the ones I have tried and see if I can get them stable running under one umbrella.

One of the places I would start would be with full use of internal storage for apps. Depending on how much time I can put towards it, I may have a Rom out towards the end of November.

That would be awesome! :D I'll keep an eye out for that cause by then I'll have prob gotten over my hesitations and have made the jump to a custom ROM. :) I guess I'll ask you this cause you seem like you'd know, how hard is it to go back to the stock OTA 2.2? I have the downloaded official .zip from when it went live, would I just rename that update.zip and run recovery? Not to jump the rails on my own thread but figured I'd ask. Thanks

hmm not quite as 1-click as I was hoping :P thanks for the info, I remember finding that thread a while ago but I think it only had the back to 2.1 instructions at the time so didn't think it was the right one for me.

Regarding the internal storage, you can store music and videos on the internal storage and your media players will find and play them.

I store music, pictures, and apps on the SD card and videos (movies and TV episodes) on the internal memory.
