Internet bookmarks slow to open

When using the internet and I click the button to open my list of favorites/bookmarks, my Galaxy note is very slow to open the list (it wasn't always this way). Any ideas why? I'm still new at the whole tablet thing - should I be doing some sort of maintenance similar to what I do on my laptop?

The time I am wasting while I wait for my favorites list to open is ridiculous. Does anyone have any thoughts on this???
