Hi I live in South Africa and have had my Samsung G2 for 2 months now. I have rooted it and installed 2.3.4 which has increased my battery life.

I also have a Galaxy S2. Did not feel like rooting and installing ROMs, but I get a decent day's worth of battery. And I am still on 2.3.3
