The radio. IT IS HORRIBLE. I have 3 new areas I drop calls, and at my house where I used to get 3 bars on the iphone I get 0-1 bars and it cuts out constantly unless I am outside. I am thinking I need to get a repeater to remedy this.

So whats the story on Samsung and the radio? Is this a known issue? (VZW)

And the dumb question of the day....any fix?

For the most part it seems Samsung radios are a bit inferior to the competition. From what I read it seems to be the lte phones in vzw. I'm not sure about gsm radios and sprint just got there lte up so we will see there. Most people seem to get by and in some instances a software update helped or changing the sim. Some cases nothing helped. Very mixed depending on the user and location. I can say between this and the nexus they've been worst than the rebound and iphone but I didn't experience many drops. Do it depends on this on if it's worth it.

I'm not having any radio problems coming from a 4s on ATT to the GSIII on ATT. Better radio's than the GSII in my opinion on ATT

I havent really noticed a difference. My gf has my old iphone 4s and we get the same amount of bars wherever we go. We are both on ATT.

I have improved as far as ability to have and maintain signal. But I was also coming from a 3g phone so hard to compare. I came from an og dinc which was great but I do believe I have better signal and certainly better speed with my gs3 (as 4g is available where I live even though they say it's not)

Glad some of y'all don't have issues. I drive 30 miles to work each day and as I said I have 3 new drop zones over the 4s. Is is definitely an issue for me.

Qualcomm makes the radios. It seems as though its samsungs antenna architecture that is always an issue.

Hey Mark,

I am actually the opposite. I drive only about 15 minutes to work, through back roads.

I came from an iPhone 4, and I used to drop calls in two particular areas on my way to work. I used my S3 this morning, just got it last night, and experienced none.

Weird. My iPhone 4 was always inferior as far as call quality in comparison to my Blackberries though.

Nothing beats Motorola radios/antennas but my GS3 is pretty close.
Wanna see what a poor signal looks like? Get a Gal Nexus, what a miserable experience. I've gone through 4 of them before I gave up and got Razr Maxx.

Haven't ever used an iphone, but at my house the reception with sprint has always been terrible, but with the S3 it's the best of any phones I've used here. So in my view the radio is quite an asset.

Maybe u need a phone swap because if I can pull these numbers from a ns4g then u must have a defunct phone

I have no issues in that department, I've had the iPhone4s for 6 months, and my galaxy s3 is the same...great reception and all ,at work still and at home....

Well and I'm on At&t

I have same issue as OP. Since getting my S3 from T-Mobile, I have been getting major signal loss in places I used to have 3-4 bars constantly on my previous HTC phone.

I can say radio is not as good as my 4s. I do not get signal in a bar dt which I head to on the weekends. My iPhone gets signal with no problem.

Well the VZW store wouldn't swap them out. I will have to call tech support I guess.

On a side note, the WiFi radio is stronger than my 4s.

Not coming from an iPhone, but an Evo 4g and at this early stage I would say the voice and 3g radio is slightly better on the SGSIII and the WiFi holds smaller signals a lot better. Haven't yet used the BT radio enough to make a conclusion.

I had one exchanged due to WiFi not working almost at all in a room right above the router and my iPhone and iPad have full bars pulling 26mbps and my s3 pulling 10 this one is a little better but battery life is terrible on this one

BT works well on my truck and on my Supertooth speaker. Excellent sound and reception.
