Hello all!

So my awesome unlocked HTC One just came in today. I went to my local AT&T store and was able to activate voice and data, however, I am not yet able to receive or send text messages. I came from an iPhone 4S and read that some people had issues with iMessage. I took the necessary precautions and:
1) Disabled iMessage from the "Messages" option in my iPhone settings
2) Went to the Apple support site and unregistered my iPhone

However, I'm still not able to send or receive texts. Can someone help me!?

Thanks!

Do you have an iPad or other Apple device that receives messages via iMessage?

My wife has an iPad, but it's synced to her Apple ID

This thread has someone with a similar issue. http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...-ios-android-imessage-screwing-things-up.html

There is a link in the 2nd post that seems to have solved it for that user, but it sounds like you may have to disable SMS entirely on the iPhone. That thread has more users, so you might be able to get a more educated response by adding your question to that one. Sorry I can't be of more direct help, I have only done minimal trouble shooting on my sister's iPhone and have never had one myself.

I came from the 4S as well and initially had an issue receiving texts but after turning off on old phone and my iPad no problem. Odd thing for you though is that you can't send. I had no problem sending I just was not getting the responses on my new phone. Maybe a call to AT&T to make sure the services are setup correctly?

You can't send at all? Not even to people outside of your contact list? If yes - then AT&T might have screwed something up when activating your phone, you should contact them and ask them to check everything...

Nope, nothing. Couldn't even get WhatsApp working because I couldn't receive their text verification code (or facebooks, etc etc... damn double factor authentication! Useless without texts!). On the phone with AT&T right now trying to troubleshoot with one of the Level 1 guys ("Yes, I did buy a new phone, NO I did not buy it from AT&T, YES, it's compatible, YES, I tried restarting..... sigh...)

Confirmed. AT&T strikes again. They ported everything over to the new phone, except the text plan.

Surprisingly, the customer service rep was actually helpful. He filed a request to reactivate my old data text plan (granfathered in), switched me to a temporary plan that is fairly close AND gave me a $25 credit on my bill without me having to ask. Not bad, AT&T, not bad at all.

Edit: Text plan, not data plan :)

Nice! I know there are many gripes with AT&T but when I have had to deal with them regarding a cell phone I've come away taken care of. That's just been my personal experience:)

I had the same issue until I changed the password to my I Cloud account. Then it stopped, but don't forget to unlink all devices that previously got IMessages from that account as well. Now my wife can text me from her iPhone 5 and I receive them as I should.
