iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S3 iMessage problem.

I've seen and read about this problem on this forum and posted around the internet but haven't found a solution that works.

Because I previously had an iPhone, everyone who has an iphone, when they text me, sends to my iMessage because they still recogonize me as an iPhone. I CANNOT turn iMessage off because I sold my phone back to Sprint. Additionally, I removed my device from the apple site located here:
https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do I also changed my password for my apple id.

Any other suggestions except having anyone who texts me from an iphone hold down the message and send it as a text?

How do you know when people are texting you if it doesn't come through?
Do they call you, upset that you haven't replied?

Call your carrier, and have them update your profile to indicate you don't have an iPhone.
