Been on the iphone4 for a little bit now but the droid 3 has caught my eye. I played with one at my local Verizon store and I like it but there's a few things I was wondering before I commit to a switch.

1. How is corporate email on this phone? This is probably the most important feature to me. iPhone works great but I don't like all the text that goes along with replying to emails and I know that on the gmail app the header of the email stays up top while scrolling through the email. I would love that if it worked with the corporate email.

2. How's the lag? I know most android phones are a bit laggy and it would be pretty annoying coming from an iPhone which really never lags.

3. How's the gps? Im out on the field a lot and would love turn by turn navigation just want to know how accurate it is.

I can't comment on the Corporate email but I have insight on the other two.

I came from a Droid Incredible running CyanogenMod 7 and compared to that the Droid 3 feels slower in everyday operations...not sure why but it just does. Obviously CM7 is a fully debloated and optimized and the stock d3 is heavily bloated, I'm sure once we get root and some custom ROMS this thing will fly! I have already put launcher pro on my d3 since the redrawing of the desktop thanks to philblur really bothered me. That said, once you get something running its smooth as butter. I haven't had a slow down yet in anything.

As for the gps its very accurate..best case scenario I can be standing in a parking lot and it will have me accurate within about 3meters, and to be honest I dont see how that could be improved on any phone running as small of receivers as these things are. I have never had a problem with my GPS other then that once in a while android bug that keeps me searching for gps, but if it does it for more than 10 seconds I just back out of whatever is asking for the gps and get back in...usually GPS comes in within seconds.

I can't help with the emaill. But I've seen no lag as of the fourth day of having my phone. Any phone running a rom will alsways fe faster the a stock rom but as to this phone with stock rom I think runs very fast. As to the gps it works very fast for me within a few seconds it got me so no issues there. A great phone but you might want to check it out at a store to make sure. Good luck and let us know.

Might want to wait for the Galaxy SII unless you like the physical keyboard. It will be unlocked and able to run custom ROMs which will basically negate lag given the specs of the SII.

With regard to corporate e-mail, there is a bug that makes it hard to connect if your company uses signed certificates. Fortunately, there is a very easy work around that takes about 3 minutes to implement. Its described in another post here, but you can PM me if you want info (I'm on the road, so may not respond for a day or so).

Anyway, since I got it set up properly exchange support is top notch. I also get corporate e-mail on an IOS device (Ipad 2) and I would say that both work equally well.

I have no lag whatsoever.

Honestly, I find IOS slightly more elegant and user friendly. But, the main reasons I didn't just wait for iPhone 5 are the keyboard, removable battery, and standard USB charger. I also find customization of the Droid to be really nice.

Thanks for the info guy, should be recieving this phone in a couple days. Im gonna take it on a test drive and see how it goes

A little update. Got the phone and played with it for a good while. Downloaded all the apps I normally use on my iPhone, customized the layout to my liking, and browsed through all the stock apps. I gotta say android has come a long way since the last time I used it. Most of the apps I use on my iPhone are now on android. Web browsing is much improved but minus flash safari is still a little better but the gap is closing. Virtual keyboard isn't as accurate as the iPhone but it's not a deal breaker. Physical keyboard is awesome best I have used since blackberry.

Not quite. Almost. I'm still using my iPhone I've just been playing with the droid through wifi. The thing that is bugging me is the a droid market keeps force closing and sometimes it seems like it gets overwhelmed while multiple tasking it starts to lag quite a bit

I've never had the market crash, nor do I have any issues with lag. I'm not saying that others aren't having this problem but this doesn't sound like typical behavior.
