iPlayer download crash Nexus 10

BBC iPlayer switches my tablet off if I try to resume playing a downloaded programme after I've switched tablet off. I emailed iplayer help who claimed they had not come across this problem. I think it might have been since 4.4.2 was installed. I'm quite new to all this and would appreciate some help

I'm having exactly the same problem so it isn't a one off or isolated. programmes freeze every 1 or 2 minutes for a minute. Downloaded programmes crash the Nexus.

I'm getting the same issue with Sky Go as well so it must be a Nexus or KitKat programme.
