IR remote fun?

Tried to do this at the gym last night but didn't get very far. What are the steps? Are you supposed to add another "room" to your WatchOn profile? How are you supposed to know what TV provider they are using? Where I live, it could be Time Warner, Directv, Dish, RCN, Verizon, etc.

This is one of my favorite features. Yesterday I programmed my Lutron light switch to work with the remote. My air conditioner and fireplace remotes are next.

Freaking love this feature... I have four rooms with hdtv and Direct TV - I love the guide and the whole thing.

Knowing the TV provider is so that the channel guide actually knows which channel corresponds to what network. You could probably guess at that, but you would also need to know whether the tuner is controlled by the TV set or a box...and the manufacturer(s) of said equipment to program the IR codes.

What ever happened to not being childish pricks? If you think it's fun ruining people's time at a bar trying to watch a game you are just a pathetic loser. Grow up.

Wow. A little levity and harmless fun reared its ugly head! A veritable sh!tstorm!! Next time you see an S4 owner get jiggy with his remote at a bar, run him through with a bar spork!

It's one thing to have a little harmless fun, but if you're at bar where everyone is invested in watching the game and you keep changing the channel just because "you can and you know it's p***ing the crap out of everyone" then you are just being a childish jackass.

IR blaster was a good idea for phones... Sure we can be mean with it but I find it useful if the TV remote is across the room and I'm lazy lol :P.

Sent from my Sprint HTC One using AC forums.

So you can do that with your phone I wonder if it would work with my sony xplod radio in my truck?

I don't see why not. I haven't found one remote that I couldn't emulate. I just found a way to use it to turn on my Mac. The downside is they don't allow you to choose what buttons are available like some remote software, and you can't edit what it says (it always says 'TV') but the remote part should still work for you....

Hmm, turned on a Mac. So by any chance you think this works with apple tv? My S4 is actually being delivered. I was wondering if I could program my S4 to control my apple tv.

what remote app is everybody using? i find watchon useless, doesn't save my devices, and only capable of switching my receiver off, nothing else.

Have any of you guys been able to turn on and off other devices, other than tv, cable box, dvd/blu-ray and receiver with the IR blaster?

Wow lighten up...It's all in good fun. I am 36 and the first thing I did when I walked into my local future shop was start screwing with the TVs
and watching the commissioned employees freak out, it was much needed comic relief :)

I use Smart Remote.... It's WAY better than WatchOn and had better features... Works faster too

Not to continue to advocate bad practices, but if you guys enjoy this sort of thing, you should check out my universal TV kill switch application. It turns off any TV with the tap of a button!

Could you please tell me how you added the lutron lighting to Watchon? I have been trying to do it but havent been able to... It asks for a type of TV or other device like a DVD... I went through all of them and tried each code but it didnt help... if you could provide instructions,... I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

I would think you could get hurt really bad if caught messing with the channel of a TV in a bar full of drunk fans! I would not repeat this more than a couple times because someone might figure it out!

Friend of mine purchased a device on ebay that sends OFF Codes and will turn OFF almost any TV. He pressed the button in Walmart and watched as all of the TVs near him turned off! He realized they have security cameras everywhere and decided this is something he would not do again!
I used my Palm device to change channels at Applebees a couple times while eating supper! I looked around to see if anyone was paying attention before I changed from basketball to football. No one seemed to notice!
