Verizon Galaxy S8 Iris scanner most always on

Have had the S8 a couple of days, set it up, and changing settings. I started to set the iris scanner, but decided since I wear glasses not to bother. Now, the iris scanner light seems to be on 90% of the time, but it does go dark. Not sure how bright it would be if operative. It's certainly not as bright as the blue notification light.

Is this normal, that is, it lights a bit? Seems to me not since it does go dark.

I wear glasses and the iris scanner works every time with no issues.

I also wear glass and the iris scanner has never failed to work for me. Wearing glass shouldn't keep you from trying. I also set up fingerprint as a backup. The red light on the left indicates that the iris scanner is working. Is that red light on 90% of the time? That is not normal. Mine only comes on when it needs to authenticate.

Thanks for the replies, but I am referring to the "Iris scanner" (per the UG) on the far right next to the front camera lens. Per the UG the lamp on the far left is the "Iris detection LED."

The scanner maintains a green glow most of the time, sometimes even when the phone is off. And sometimes, like now, it's out.

(BTW, I'll try the scanner to authenticate.)

I think that green glow is probably a reflection or something. Do you get it in a dark room?

I used the iris scan successfully even with sunglasses on.

I used the iris scan successfully even with sunglasses on.

I actually used it with my sunglasses today as well and it worked fine. It does have a harder time with my regular glasses but works fine with my contacts.

I have never seen any green glow on my device on the right.

I too see y he green glow and I am not even using the iris scanner.

It's just a reflection. Turn the light off and you'll see.
