Irises and Face Recognition gone

what are you talking about? nobody else can get into your phone since its YOUR face that i recorded lol.
As others have said, Samsung's facial recognition is easily fooled. All you need to do is have a photo of the phone owner on another phone, and it will unlock it.

That being said, I was incorrect with the Iris Scanner. I didn't realize it was secure enough to be used to authenticate log in and for Samsung Pay. But Samsung isn't offering that anymore, just regular face unlock.

Iris scanner I think was pretty secure, you could use for Samsung pay , it was regular face unlock that wasn't secure.

Oops, my bad. I didn't realize the Iris Scanner was secure enough for authentication. It's unfortunate they aren't offering it anymore. Forgive me? LOL

Lol no worries...
Yeah its unfortunate they didn't include this after the s9 and note series

Well technically its not secure because a simple photo can trick the phone. But as you pointed out, the average thief or busybody still won't be able to get into the phone.
Not a simple photo a highly detailed photo. I tried taking multiple pictures transferring them to my tablet and the phone wasn't tricked. I think there's too much hype over this situation. Use face for unlocking phone and fps for banking and password protected apps./ Sites.

Have you tried it? I have and it doesn't work. I even used my tablet so it's more life like and still nothing.

I'm using facial on S10+ now it's fast though I'm not sure how secure... Lol

We need to get iPhone style which I'm hearing coming to the new Pixel 4... Let's see more of it upcoming phones...

I updated my post. I quoted a post bout the iris scanner. That never worked with my glasses. The face one I never tried (I don't think).

Although I thought I read that the iPhone face scanners aren't good either. There were videos and news reports about it. There was a story of a mom's son who could open her phone with his face. Not sure about the newer iphones.

iris scanner never worked with my glasses on, which I have to wear. I tried it once in the morning, light on and no glasses and it worked nice.

I never tried the facial option.

Strange. It worked through my glasses, my sunglasses, and my smoke colored motorcycle visor.

I guess they all have some weaknesses... Thinking the more points of one's face the better security... Who knows lol...

Too many people in it to close it.

But facial recognition is about the easiest biolock to fake. Just take your picture, print it on flexible material, put that over a moldable head and - pop - I just got into your phone. Iris? A little more difficult. Retinal scan? Now we're talking. (Until they come out with a DNA sensor.)

No I meaning I'm closing this conversation with that person .
Got a big mouth insulting me

To anyone who's at least a little bit regular here, posts #29 and #31 have a big "ignore this" on them. I'm not calling you a genius, but let's see him tear an engine down. You expressed your opinion. If he doesn't like it ... I guess I missed the "you must like all posts" banner.

Face recognition is not gone. In fact it is much better. The only downside to losing the iris scanner (since an improved face recognition is here) is not being able to open Samsung Pay by looking at your phone. You can use Samsung Pass (to open websites) and unlock your phone though so thats good.

Well, keep in mind we never had secure facial recognition on any Samsung phone. We did have the insecure face scan done by the front facing camera, but to my knowledge that's still available on the Note 10 and 10+.

I missed the iris scanner for awhile, but I got used to the front facing fingerprint scanner on the S10+ and it is WAY more convenient, despite the higher failure rate.

I had a galaxy device a few years ago that had front fps and iris scanner. Iris was a lot more convenient than the fps.

My experience with front fps has never been the best. Rear fps is far more convenient. I just have to pick my phone up instead of uncomfortably over extending my thumb or giving up on one hand usability on my phone.

I get the appeal of the extra screen space, but it just leaves me with a phone with a useless black spot on the screen.

I wouldn't count it as better if it can't be used with Samsung Pay.. that means banks don't think it is secure enough for payment.

Mod Note

Cleaned up some posts. Discussion is cool.. insulting people because you disagree isn't.
